I suppose the term midfield can be stretched to either incorporate or leave out players like Messi, Ronaldinho or Ronaldo.

In my view all 3 are forwards. Not strikers, but forwards.

No need for the over reaction.

Just not sure which of Marquez or Toure will start, either behind Xavi, Deco, Messi and Ronaldinhio would be better for me than Gattuso, Emerson, Pirlo, Seedorf and Kaka.

Hmmm the old argument doesnt hold for me in the case of Milan ,wingers and strikers or other flair players get more hit by the old age and perhaps losing a yard of pace , DMC and playmakers hardly have that in the first place so the most important player for Milan is still young and can run all day.
They may get caught out sometime but it is less likely because of the system they play.

    Like Toon said.
Depends if you put Ronaldo, Dinho and Messi as forwards or as midfielders.
And Blue, if you put them as MF, there's no way that Milan or any other team in this planet has the MF of Barcelona in terms of lethalnes.
If you take them out, then again Barca midfield is beyond the others in terms of creativity.
We can discuss about the other aspects though.
And, i still dont get it why you are so impressed by Emerson. Very Happy

marquez might play in midfield if yaya doesn't perform. He played that role very well for barca 2 or 3 seasons ago

I think Bluenine meant why would Barcelona play Marquez as a DM when they have Yaya. They also have Edmílson and Motta as back ups. I think Marquez, Milito, and Puyol will rotate as CBs. Thats something Barcelona missed last season.

Abidal is another good buy. Of all the big sides, Barcelona have done the best in the transfers Ale

Edmilson is out till January, Motta is on the transfer list and if we don't manage to sell him he won't play. Our DM's for the next season are Toure and Marquez.

Puyol may get the odd rest, but he certainly won't be rotated. Along with Valdez, I imagine he is the first name on the team sheet.

Maybe cause (excluding last year) he used to be awesome. Same like Cannavaro. Razz

TBH I'm quite happy we got Emerson. Assuming we play with only one striker, then a midfield duo of Gattuso-Emo will allow Pirlo and Seedorf to focus on their offensive-creative duties more, without having to worry about tracking back and defending as much as they had to in the past.
