Anelka blocks United short-term deal with £7.5m wage demand

Nicolas Anelka has warned Manchester United and other potential suitors he will not move from Bolton unless he is guaranteed £7.5 million over three years.

Last year the France striker became the highest-paid player in Bolton's history when he signed a four-year deal worth £10m.

Clubs, including West Ham,Manchester City, Portsmouth and United have been told they can have Anelka for £9m thanks to an escape clause in his contract.

Neither United nor City want to sign him on a long-term deal but Anelka told French newspaper L'Equipe: 'A lot of clubs are interested but they give up as soon as they realise my salary is big.

'I am not prepared to make any sacrifices on a financial level. I know my level and my quality. I will not accept any old offer. Manchester United is just chit-chat. At no time has there been a real desire to sign me. I have the level needed for a big club but I cannot force them to take me.'

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So he doesn't care who he plays for...as long as he gets his 48k a week on a 3/4 year deal. Curbishley...get in there you c**t.

He does actually. In L'équipe, the actual interview says that he actually wants to stay in Bolton where he feels good. He'll only leave if our results aren't up to standards, which probably means a January transfer move if we continue like this.

But he won't move to West Ham, you've only got one point more.

Bolton need to keep on to Anelka and Diouf or they will be in serious trouble, Diouf sounds like he will go but not in this transfer window

As usual - an english press article does it's best to suggest Anelka is greedy and hypes up his "Le Credible Sulk" image.

But Lampard's not greedy because he's stalling on £130k p/w. Erm

Anelka has become so big in France recently it's untrue. He's gone from most hated to most loved, his image has really changed.

So the French Press've basically tried to hype up any rumours of him leaving Bolton. Wankers.

I agree with froggy, Anelka would only leave for "United" out of those(i assume they're talking about Manchester), maybe Man City. Anelka is most probably staying put.

Well then why would he leave us to go to West Ham. We finished seventh last season, you were nearly relegated. The only reason he might want to leave is because we've had a poor start. So obviously the table does matter.

Just like we thrashed the $h!t out of you at the Reebok. And we didn't have an illegally bought Argentinian superstar to help us, nor a rich sugar daddy. The season's far from over, we can finish anywhere we want to if we keep Diouf and Anelka.

9 million fee and 48k per week doesn't sound that bad by today's prices, for a centreforward who offers a great range of talents and, unlike Thierry Henry (who cost 16 million and is on 120k per week) can actually head a football and use his left peg...

Particularly for a Premiership striker being courted by the best teams in the land. I mean, Rooney's on double that. As was Henry. As is Drogba. Dunno what Torres makes but I bet it's significantly more than 48 grand a week.

Plenty of fans would want Anelka at their club.

He's a rich man's Darren Bent. I certainly wanted him in the summer for the alleged £9-£12m, instead of wasting it on Bent.

As for the bigger club argument, it's more money than anything. Outside England the history/Big club thing counts for very little.

I think L'équipe and France Football both said that Arsenal were in for Anelka as a replacement for Henry two months ago. He is still at Bolton, I wouldn't read to much into these stories.

    Would he consider Lyon?

No, he said he won't return to France. I'm getting quite pissed off at all these Anelka bullshit rumours. Especially in the English media where they try to make bullshit by using small excerpts from an interview instaed of the entire one; The Sky Sports transcript of the interview was much better:

    @Deano

I'm getting uptight because I know that if Anelka leaves we are screwed.

It's rumours FF. If Anelka has said he is happy you can laugh them off. No need to have a go at West Ham because some newspaper has linked us with him Laughing

Bloody hell, I bet Evra and Vidic are on more than that.

    I'd easily pay that.
