Great 1st game ; Real Madrid v Bremen .. cmon Sneijder he could be the difference already the *Madrid press* see him as the most important player atm (according to Real Madrid TV)

What does everyone think of Olypiakos? Are they a good side?

EDIT: just looked at their side on Wikipedia.

Its not bad, LuaLua, Kovacevic, Galletti, Djordevic, Konstantinou, all good enough to cause any one of us an upset.

They also have the fake Cristian Ledesma (we have the real one ) and Raul Bravo

Borowski and Fritz should be back, Frings unfortunately won't by the look of things.
Womé will be back as well, so will Carlos Alberto (still has to gel with the team though).

We should have most of our first teamers back by then (*touch wood*), but definitely will miss Frings.

But Real still have to gel as well, so I rather play them as early as possible, have the most difficult match first.

My two clubs in the CL didn't draw too well, Lazio in the group from hell, and Celtic gets Milan.

The Champions League is finally back. The first fixture will see Real Madrid play against Werder Bremen on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabéu. Julio Baptista talked about the keys to the game in today’s press conference and said every player will be given his chance to shine this season.

Three consecutive victories... How do you see the team?
It’s important for us to start with victories to show everyone that we are in excellent shape. The team is playing at a very high level.
Werder Bremen don’t seem to be the strong side they normally are...
The Champions League is a very important competition and in order to do well in it we will have to take points at home. We’ll start preparing for the game tomorrow.




What can you tell us about Werder Bremen’s Diego?
He is a quality player and an international with Brazil. He leads the team’s attack. He is their most talented player.
Will the team have to play better against Werder Bremen than against Almeria in order to win?
Yesterday’s may not have been a beautiful game, but the important thing at the end of the day is to win, and we did that. We are having a good streak and I think we are giving a rather good image. I think on Tuesday and in basically every Champions League match we will have to play at the highest possible level in order to win and convince people of our chances.



Are Werder Bremen the toughest team in your group?
They have lost their most recent games, but they have individual and collective talent... That sometimes decides the outcome of a Champions League fixture. German teams are always tough nuts to crack because they defend very well. We know they will look to draw the game and we have to destroy them.
Higuaín and Saviola scored goals last night. Is it becoming increasingly hard to earn a spot on the team?
I think the season will be very long and that some players will get their chance eventually. I hope to get mine because I want to prove my worth.

I fancy Lazio in this group for some reason, this is the toughest group by far

Its between Lazio and Weder i would have said Weder before they've lost their last couple of matches..

Heinze is injured so I hope we see Drenthe at LB again

Apparently Heinze is almost sure not to be able to play tomorrow. Schuster couldn't possibly be dumb enough to play Drenthe again I hope. I think even a trained monkey would have noticed how bad Drenthe is at LB after the last 3 games. He makes Marcelo look like Maldini when it comes to defending.

Schuster should speak to Foppe de Haan if he wants to know where to play Drenthe effectively (if he will play him that is). I've questioned his move so early in his career , he never did the business for Feyenoord in his 1st season and does well in a tourney and *bang* hes at one of the top clubs in the World !

he said in a interview on AS today that he intends on using torres or marcelo as back up and that playing drenthe was out of emergency.im guesing he wont forget torres in the coming squads.

Is Torres injured , why has he not been getting games. He was one of the bright sparks of the team last season.

It's a mystery to every Madrid fan as well. He's an excellent player to even have as a sub because he can play very well in both wings. I would very much prefer to have Torres as a potential sub for Ramos over Salgado, who's utterly useless.

The only good news out of this for me is that Marcelo is almost certain to play. However, maybe it's not the best idea to make him debut this season in such a big game but hopefully Marcelo will respond.

Lazio face a daunting test when they visit Greek champions Olympiakos in their Champions League opener on Tuesday, but Coach Delio Rossi is ready.

The Biancocelesti squeezed past Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest in the third qualifying round to earn a place in Group C with Real Madrid and Werder Bremen.

Having only managed three draws so far this term, the Stadio Olimpico faithful could be forgiven for approaching their European adventure with some trepidation, but Aquile boss Rossi is quietly confident.

“The game against Olympiakos is full of hidden dangers, but we are going there to win,” the Rimini native insisted.

“I have a hard-working team that isn’t playing brilliantly at the moment but will sooner or later reach top form and we are getting towards that.

“Last year we had the same number of points as we did now, but we were playing worse as we had already lost two games. You can see the glass as half empty if you want, but this Lazio side deserves credit.”

Yeah, I don´t think we have the slightest chance tonight to be honest. So I hope Real will do it like Barca, score two fast goals and leave us in peace for the rest of the time.

However, I´m still looking forward to the game. It´s a great game for Werder Bremen, a pity though we have so many injuries.
