With only 6 games to be played Zenit St.Petersburg leads the Russian competition!

So will Advocaat do it? And how surprising it is to see CSKA that low.

That would be so fun. I certainly wouldn't guess Zenit to be at the top, but i hope they pull it through

What good players do Zenit have ? i know they've spent a lot of money cos i know they signed Ricksen and Fatih Tekke cost them around $13m and they spent $15m on Tymoschuk from Shakhtar but i dont know many more.

Faith Tekke, Ricksen, Tymosheck and Lombearts are the most famous ones. Erik Hagen is there as is Alejandro Damián Domínguez who is supposed to be a really good Argentian striker.

Yeah Dominguez cost them $7m so its clear they have spent a lot of money.

Tekke, Tymosheck and Dominguez = $35m ! a lot to spend on just 3 players.

But still, it's a great achievement for Zenit. CSKA have in quality I guess a better team but Advocaat did a really good job apparantly.

Hasn't Akinfeev missed quite a bit of the season with an injury? If he'd been fit I'm sure they'd be higher

How many Russian teams qualify for the CL, is it two or three? If CSKA miss out do people think some of their key players, like Akinfeev and D. Carvalho might leave?

You would expect a team with Carvalho, Vagner, Jo and Dudu to carry the team even without Akinfeev. And their defence isn't really there problem, only 20 goals they leaked against 29 goals leaked by Zenit.

Two into the CL and two into the UEFA Cup + Domestic Cup winner.

Akinfeev has missed most of the season. This has had an obvious effect on CSKA.

But of the top teams they leaked the least amount of goals, yes he would probably won a few points for them but would he really be the difference?
