Listen Bluey, it takes a lot to get a good word from Deano about spurs, so when he is talking about them then its best to take it seriously.

Spurs are so unpredictable you cant use form with them. They outplayed man utd. and also nearly beat liverpool. I think they can basically focus on the uefa cup now they are out of the cl chase. not that they were ever in it.

I never said it is not possible for Spurs to win, just that Fiorentina are better.

They have much better teamwork, lots of talented players, and a very good tactician.

And please, stop judging teams based on 1 game. Thats just silly.

Ricardo Jol wrote:fiorentina couldn't even win from Groningen a midtable side in the Netherlands... They were lucky on penalties... Why would it not possible for Spurs to win ?

@Deano, I don't like doing player comparisons, coz they don't tell half the story... I have seen Spurs play many times, actually loved watching them last season (mostly coz of Berbatov), but the teamwork at fiorentina is better... the reserves at fiorentina are better... I think Fiorentina are a better team.

    1-GK-Paul Robinson < Frey
    2-RB-Pascal Chimbonda = Ujfalusi
    16-LB-Gareth Bale < Pasqual
    26-CB-Ledley King > Gamberini
    5-CB-Younes Kaboul < Dainelli
    25-RW-Aaron Lennon > Jorgensen
    6-CM-Didier Zokora = Liverani
    8-CM-Jermaine Jenas < Montolivo
    15-LW-Steed Malbranque = Semioli
    9-ST-Dimitar Berbatov = Mutu
    10-ST-Robbie Keane. > Vieri

    Subs:
    12-GK-Radek Cerny > Avramov
    20-CB-Michael Dawson < Vanden Borre
    6-CM-Teemu Tainio < Donadel
    18-ST-Jermain Defoe > Pazzini
    23-ST-Darren Bent. > Osvaldo

And then Fiorentina have the likes of Balzaretti, Potenza, Kroldrup, Gobbi, Santana, Kuzmanovic, Pazienza, Lupoli, Hable, etc

Nah, Fiorentina have more quality as a squad. And some of the player comparisons where I put Spurs ahead may change very soon, and the kids at Fiorentina get better and better. Not sure for how long will Bent stay better than Osvaldo for example, or Kuzmanovic for that matter or Pazzini.

Vanden Borré better than Dawson! Yikes Madness...

The ratings you've done show Spurs to be better anyhow Razz

Spurs also have TONNES more players that you haven't included like Lee Yung Pyo, Anthony Gardner, Tom Huddlestone (who is quality!), Boateng, Taarabt etc.

Vanden Borre has potential Dawson can only dream of. I remember he was outstanding against chelsea a coupla seasons ago in the CL. He debuted for belgium's national side at 16, and is now a regular at 19!!

Anyways, my ratings slightly favour fiorentina, learn how to add up Razz

And its close only coz I have given a few tottenham players the benefit of doubt for having more experience. Gigliati and Bobo will slaughter me for some of my ratings.... affraid

I've never watched Vanden Borre, but Dawson is Cr@p tbh. I don't rate him at all, so that particular rating doesn't surprise me.

As Ballack (who lives in Belgium) has identified, Vanden Borré is pure hype. He's decent enough but I wouldn't say that he's better than Dawson from what I've seen.

In terms of your ratings, you've been reasonably fair, but I'd definately rate Chimbonda above Ujfalusi and your experience arguement makes no sense! In the first team you've rated King, Lennon and Keane as better than they're counterparts, who with the exception of King are all less experienced that their opposite numbers.

On current form Suspect Suspect Last game we just left Anfield with a point, infact were seconds away from getting 3 points from Liverpool.

There is no club in the UEFA cup who can claim to be better than Liverpool, so I say on current form, based on the last game we played, we'll be fine this season in the UEFA cup.

Whether Spuds are better than Fiorentina? Right now, based on league position, we cant claim to be better than anyone, just hope to play ourselves out of trouble.

    <Ale>

PS - Deano, I worry about you; all these complimentary words about Spurs, you almost sound like you've chosen good judgement over one-eyed bias. Surely thats just not how its done on this board Cool

Cant beleive Ashton is crocked AGAIN, just as he's about to make his debut again for England. Its like a recurring nightmare

from the rules of uefa cup

Each club plays home and away alternately in its group. Three points are
awarded for a win, one point for a draw, and no points for a defeat. The
    following match sequence applies:
    1st matchday: D v. B C not playing
    E v. A
    2nd matchday: B v. E A not playing
    C v. D
    3rd matchday: A v. B D not playing
    E v. C
    4th matchday: C v. A B not playing
    D v. E
    5th matchday: A v. D E not playing

only prob here for us is that getafe are also ranked 3rd so i doubt they'd want us both playing at home on the same night.

    PS

    Two home, two away
Each club will play two matches at home and two away on the following dates: 25 October, 8 November, 29 November, 05/06 December, 19/20 December. A computer draw will determine the fixture schedule with factors such as stadium clashes and climatic conditions - it is not possible to play in some northern countries in mid-December - taken into account.

From all evidence so far, Prandelli is taking UEFA Cup seriously. So this should settle some arguements. This is gonna be fun!! Very happy with the draw... Villareal vs Fiorentina, 05Dec I think.

However, this is just one game. I think the best indicator of who is better is how well they do domestically and in europe this season.
