I only wish he came to us sooner, or didn't leave for Helsingborg so soon, because he's still scoring regularly for them in the league as well as UEFA.

You're havin a laugh. He got more credit than anybody in world football ever has. And he was shite for man utd, yet apparently he was a big reason we won the title Shocked Laughing Let's be honest he was a sub at barca and actually had a very poor start to his career there, and for Celtic he was great, but any class player would have been in scotland at that time. Not sure how good his record for Sweden was.

WILLEM VAN HANEGEM aka De Kromme (The Crooked)- midfield architect of the Dutch 1974 WC squad. Was MOTM hands down when Holland trashed Argentina 4-1, fucking good when we beat Braziil 2-0 & only player playing well v Germany in the final.

10 minutes highlights of Holland - Brazil 1974 (1 of the best footy matches I ever saw).

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTs2iwMqVMg

Van Hanegem wears #3, the pass he gives the first minute (of the clip) with the outside of his left foot is typical Van Hanegem. Same goes for the satbbed pass just before the 2 minute mark. 1 of the best passers ever a real gnious. Also key player in Feyenoord's European Cup winning sqaud of 1970.

he's legendary amongst villa fans. not sure what the man utd crowd think of him. fergie let him go because he was a bit unprofessional, as far as i know (a man utd fan may correct me on this). he has a good reputation, i guess, but generally forgotten amongst most non-villa fans i'd imagine.

Ask any of the old brigade of United fans and they love the man. Most say he's one of the best defenders we've ever had. Better than the likes of Stam, Rio, Bruce and Pallister.

His book is interesting, he was actually drunk half the time he was playing Laughing I don't know if you think he was better drunk than most people sober, or he could have been one of the best defenders ever if he actually just didn't drink.

yeah there was something about how the irish physio had to sleep outside his room every time they went on an international trip to make sure he didn't break out to get booze.

i think he was a truly great defender, just his drinking and such prevented him from ever being a fixture in a truly successful club so he doesn't have the medals to prove it.
