Which performance is the best based on:

    - The experience of the player in his league (new comer or experienced)
    - The age of the player (at his beginning or ending of his career)
    - The way the team plays for this player (does the team only play for him or not)
    - The player's past year performance.
    - The player's position (midfield or striker)

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic Inter Milan

    The inform player in Italy.
    Serie A: 7 games - 7 goals - 3 assists
    C.L: 2 games- 2 goals - 0 assist

    David Trezeguet Juventus

Back after a year playing in Serie B, where his stats were pretty average.

    Serie A: 7 games - 7 goals- 1 assist

    Lionel Messi Barcelona

Has been playing tremendously well in both la Liga and C.L.

    Liga: 6 games - 6 goals - 1 assist
    C.L: 2 games- 2 goals- 0 assist

    Rafael Van Der Vaart (Hamburg)

The key player for Hamburg this year. His stats are amazing for an attacking midfielder.

    Bundesliga: 8 games - 7 goals- 2 assists
    U.E.F.A cup: 3 games - 3 games - ?? assist

    Miroslav Klose (Bayern Munchen)

Just has been transfered from Werder, continues scoring like he did previously for Bremen.

    Bundesliga: 7 games - 8 goals
    U.E.F.A: 0 game

    Luca Toni (Bayern Munchen)

Who said a player needed time to adapt to a new league?

    Bundesliga: 8 games - 8 goals- 1 assist
    U.E.F.A cup: 2 games- 2 goals - 0 assist

    Karim Benzema (Lyon)

Playing amazingly in the League 1 well for a 19 years old player. Still has to prove himself in the C.L. Scored a goal that wasn't validated so is total should have been 11 goals.

    League 1: 10 games - 10 goals - 2 assists
    C.l: 2 games- 0 goal- 0 assist

    Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid)

19 years of age as well, Argentinian. Only playing his second year in Spain. Best player and scorer of the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

    Liga: 7 games, 5 goals, 1 assist
    U.E.F.A: 3 games, 3 goals, 0 assist

    Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal)

    Top scorer in the E.P.l.
    E.P.L: 6 games - 6 goals - 1 assist
    C.L: 3 games - 0 goal - 1 assist

    Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)

Has totally exploded since Henry's departure.
    Excellent stats for his position.

    E.L: 8 games - 4 goals - 5 assists
    C.L: 4 games - 3 goals - 1 assist

    Roy Makaay (Feyernoord)

At 31 years old Makaay is still showing he can score.
Feyernoord are surprisingly lying at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie.

    Dutch Eredivisie: 7 games - 5 goals

    Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Ajax Amsterdam)

Impressive as usual. The only drawback for him is that Ajax were eliminated by Dinamo Zagreb.

    Dutch Eredivisie: 7 games - 9 goals - 0 assist
    U.E.F.A: 2 games - 2 goals - 0 assist

    Ricardo Quaresma (Porto)

    Portuguese Liga.
    C.L: 2 games - 1 goal

I need help on this one. I know he has scored several times in the Portuguese Liga. He also scored the winning goal against Beşiktaş.

I could have added extra players like Van Persie or Hamit Altintop but that would have been too many players for Bayern or Arsenal. I could also have included Rossi and Totti.

When I saw this thread, before seeing the names, the first player that came to my head was Elano! He's been phenomenal for Citeh.

Btw, Cesc has 8 assists ok

Of the players you've listed, Zlatan has made the best start to t'season

Of those listed, I would say that the best players in the leagues I've watched have been:

    Italy: Ibrahimovic
    Spain: Messi
    England: Fabregas
    Germany: Klose

I would also say that Ribery deserves a mention in Germany as well. I'm not sure what his stats are for this season, but he has been fantastic and epitomised Bayern's new attacking style of play.

Ribery isn't a very statistic friendly player. He's like a better version of Hleb but with a similar end product. Even in his phenomenal season for Marseille I think he only managed 5 goals and about the same number of assists

This is my verdict on the players I can judge (because I saw all their matches, in Huntel;aat case nearly all):

Cesc: good call, but wouldn't be surprised if in some other big league someone else edged him.

Ade: Great strart of the season, but surely not the most impressive player.

Makaay: really impressed me, especially with his contribution to overall team play, including 4 assists. But sure he's not the most impressive player this season.

Huntelaar: hasn't been playing that well, most goals v poor opposition. Suarez impressed me more so far. Don't think any of them is the most impressive

Based on just highlights for others my top 3 for this season so far are (in alphabetical order):

I think Klose has been slightly better than Toni, although considering Toni is adjusting to a new league he is doing remarkably well. Klose must be so easy to play alongside though, he creates so many great chances for Toni. So far they've really complemented each other well.

Judging on the past 3-4 games it's a nobrainer of course : Messi (and Barca with him) is playing football from another planet...

I'm not objective at all, so I'll shamelessly keep on plugging (in a non-Deano way) Van der Vaart Ale

I think both Klose and Toni are thriving on the partnership:
    - Klose because he gets more asists and he knows there's a striker who can make those tapins
    - Toni because he has Klose (who can be very unselfish) to set him up

To be honest, and absolutely not as a dig to Toni, I don't think there's a striker who gets his goals presenetd on a plate the way, the amount and the frequency that Toni gets at Bayern.

    Klose for me.

8 goals (would have been 9 if the ref hadn't ruled out his goal vs Leverkusen that was 30 cm behind the line)

    +

    6 Assists!

To take nothing away from Ribery (who doesn't have to score to be absolutely amazing) and Toni (who's showing now he can also score without Klose's assists: 1 vs Belenses, 2 vs Nuremberg).

Can't wait for Klose to be back from injury in 2-3 weeks. bounce

I think over a while you will realise there is much more to Toni's game than tap ins... he is excellent in holding the ball up and creating plays upfront, strong on both feet and the head, and scores quite a few spectacular goals... but the most under rated bit is his assists - he does provide a lot of those, and is a very unselfish player.

I believe 3 of Klose's goals so far have been created by Toni. You will see more of this. Yeah, its a good partnership, both the strikers are good goalscoerers and good assisters. But what has even surprised me is how quickly Toni is settling in... remember, he is new to bundesliga!

    Says it all... Toni cheers

People usually forget how good he his apart from his goals... he is NOT a RVN/Treze kind of player, Toni has much more to his game and he can easily play support striker... but it would be silly to play someone who scores so much as a support striker...

People also forget there's more to Ruud's game than tap-ins, but that's a discussion for another time.
Its just the way it is, Toni is the #1 striker at bayern and Klose is the main supporting one and we don't need to pussyfoot around that fact.
And I've seen Toni play the last few years.

My comment wasn't even a dig at Toni, just the compliment that he is able to finish tap-ins/easy chances. Players will look for another more often if they know their partner has the capabilities to not waste their opportunities. As a result, Klose is more willing to set-up Toni, and will set-up him up more frequently than if he wasn't able to hit a barndoor. And toni will get more oportunities to score.

That's good for the main marksman IMO
