Post by Batman Sun Oct 28, 2007 9:54 am

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and new Spurs boss Juande Ramos are on a five-man shortlist for the European manager of the year. Carlo Ancelotti (AC Milan) Fabio Capello (ex-Real Madrid) and Roberto Mancini (Inter Milan) complete the list. (News of the World)

Who do you think should be crowned European manager of the year?

    Sir Alex Ferguson

Won his domestic league, reached the domestic cup final and also got to the semi finals of the Champions League.

Difficult. I don't think it should be Ancelotti as Milan were so poor in the league. Ramos has a good shout, but I doubt he'd win as he didn't win the domestic league. For me, its between SAF and Mancini. Should be SAF as Inter had a far easier job with Juve not in the league and LAzio and Milan having points deductions

Juande Ramos.. The other 4 had all the money in the world to use and could attract pretty much any player they wanted.

    Ramos for sure IMO...

UEFA cup retained...Copa Del Rey won...Spanish Super Cup won...this was all while Sevilla were involved in a title race, so they aslo qualified for the Champions League.

To do that with Sevilla...is quite frankly fantastic.

Hmm, after the Utd game he wouldn't have a chance!

One to look out for though, although Roma are stumbling at present (Totti is on fire though!)

That is all good but with his budget he should be challenging or winning the league every year (same argument would go for Chelsea, Barcelona, Milan, Inter, Real etc etc). Reaching the FA cup final is alright and so is the semis in the CL, but it is not spectacular.

lol! Sorry, didn't see the thread. Now I get you Wink

Holiday was great. Went to see Fiorentina play Siena whilst I was there - the Tuscan derby. Great atmosphere. Everything else was good as well - the food, the scenery, the drink, the ladies...

I can't believe that anybody voted for Capello (scraped a league win yes, but everybody knoes it was down to the rivals self destructing) and Mancini (he was gifted that league from the start, if he hadn't won he should have been sacked.. easiest league championship ever!)

They won 3-0! But Siena are a truly dreadful side to be honest. They'll probably stay up, but only just. They're the equivalent of Fulham in the EPL but with a lot lot worse footballers.

Talking about Italy in general, Florence is the most overrated city. ITs nice, but nothing like its made out to be like the Italians. I think its a general theme with Italy in all honesty. The whole 'ours is better than yours' attitude. The food isn't as good as in france, the countryside isn't as pretty as in France and the towns aren't as nice as French towns. France>>>Italy

Hmm not particularly industrial...on the whole...it has places like Portofino there, for Portofino alone it should be better Laughing.

It's a seaport city anyway...there are lots of nice places in Genoa to visit. Obviously Sampdoria are there too...you also have smaller clubs like Spezia and Savona in the Liguria region, no other clubs spring to mind though.

I guess like every city...it has it's nice places and it's $h!t parts...I would imagine parts of Genoa are better than parts of Florence and vice versa...
