Most powerful kicks Empty Most powerful kicks

    Post by A & K Tue Oct 30, 2007 7:57 am

I saw this interesting article which was translated from Portuguese to French about the most powerful ball kick in football history.

    No 10 Alan Shearer (Newcastle) 138 km/h in 1997

No 9 Matt Le Tissier (Southampton) 139.6 km/h in 1997

    No 8 Adriano (Inter Milan) 139.8 Km/h in 2004

No 7 Richie Humphreys, called "the Van Basten of a day ", 154.3 Km/h in 1996

No6 David Trezeguet (Monaco), against Man Utd in the 1998 C.L. 154.4 Km/h

No5 David Beckham (Man Utd) against Chelsea in 1997, 157.5 Km/h

No4 Sinisa Mihajlovic (Red Star Belgrade) 160 Km/h, no date?

No 3 Roberto Carlos, Real Madrid, 170 Km/h, again no date.

    No2 Eder (Roberto Carlos Father), 174,5 Km/H

    No1 David Hirst 183,4 Km/h, 16th September 1996 against Arsenal

Some other players have kicked the ball between 110 and 125 Km/H: Ronald Koeman, Batistuta, Mathaus et Branco.

The Benfica Paraguayan Oscar Cardozo recently scored a goal 131,4 Km/H. And last January Obafemi Martins managed 135 km/h.

Which players could beat or come close to these records? affraid

Ridiculous chart : the balls have changed *massively* through the years....

Koeman should be able to do 200 kmh with the current balls, Arie Haan 300 kmh...

Notice how most of them are in 96/97. It's all to do with the ball.

He used to hit 120-130s pretty regularily. The list obvioulsy only mentions the individual fastest of each player. Use your brain, Tweedy.

Well, its obvious coz its hardly likely that Carlos and Mihajlovic only hit one big kick in their lives!!! I have seen Sinisia hit quite a few screamers in the last 10 years...

Cheers Alive. Interesting stuff, though mainly for curiosity value I think. Bit sloppily written too you'd have to say – stretching a point to call David Hirst one of the best strikers of his generation, and they seem to think Brazil made the final of the 1982 World Cup! affraid

    Surprised riise isnt there.

Man Utd recently did a test to see who hit the ball the hardest at the club. I think rooney got to 135, ronaldo was around 130, scholes just behind that.

Well i looked all i could find was this. I guess he didn't even make top 7 Laughing

Ever wondered just how hard Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo can hit a ball? Well, it's over the English national speed limit!

The prodigious pair both clocked incredible speeds of 77 miles per hour when their shots were measured by Speed Goal, a state-of-the-art machine which you can now test yourself on.

Rooney and Ronaldo topped the charts, ahead of Tim Howard (74 mph), Louis Saha, Edwin van der Sar (both 72 mph), Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra (both 68 mph).

Speed Goal will be located in the United Museum during the Easter holidays. For just £1, you get three chances to see how your shots measure up to those of your United heroes.

Reds fans visiting the museum this Easter can also take part in Easter egg hunts, have their photo taken with the Carling Cup and meet club mascot Fred the Red.

Yes, it's really badly written. Actually it comes from the web site l'equipe which I follow quite often. Anyone can post articles about football or any sports so it's for "amateurs". The writer forgot to mention several dates, so you don't really know when exactly the player did this.

He has scored a couple of absolute laser blasts during his career - he's one of the first I think of when talking about hitting the ball hardest. No supposed Dutch bias.

Arie Haan (WC 1974 & 1978, that piledriver v Zoff) & Koeman were imo 2nd & 3rd best Dutchies all time. Best Dutchman was PSV's midfielder Willy van der Kuylen (70s), he even once shot a ball through a goal net. If my memory serves me well they did NOT allow the goal, because they thought he missed (was in the corner of the goal), replay showed it went through the net. vVn der kuylen is still all time Dutch eredivise goalscorer with something like 340.
