Perhaps the author should take a peek, from time to time, to what goes
on elsewhere in the world. Of the 25 All-time best free-kicks, only 5
didn't happen in a match involving a British club or national side. And
of those 5, 4 were Brasilian.

    Just a thought.

Beckham's best freekick IMO was against Barça in the 1998/99 CL not Greece. @ Axe Good video, Pierre had plenty of great ones.

    2. David Beckham (England v Greece, World Cup qualifier, 2001): With a nation's hopes resting on Becks' pristine white boot, he produced one of the most replayed free-kicks ever, to avert a Greek tragedy and a dangerous World Cup play-off against Ukraine.

Doh Rolling Eyes An important freekick but FAR from the best i've ever seen. I've seen much better from the likes of Robert, Juninho, Nakamura etc. Same goes for CRs against Pompey, far from one of the best. <Ale>

Are you not familiar with the way these lists go Axe? Try reading British publications most of the time...

You've got to hand it to them for putting Robinson in there Laugh

Gerrard's against Villa shows that he was really struggling to name 25 free kicks, let alone the best 25.

    Very silly article.

What about Paddy Harte playing for Finn Harps against Derby?

He ran up 11 yards, got dizzy and slipped, lost his standing foot and when his mouth connected with the ball, he had to have three new teeth.

He didn't score but was not deterred.

The teeth still lie buried deep at the Baseball Ground.

Who gives two sh*ts about the rest of the World? Do Albanians buy the Telegraph? Or Dutchies for that matter?

Number 8 fully deserves to be in there. Le Tissier was the scorer of the type of goals, including free kicks, which I've never seen equalled in England.

And another thing- free kicks in oily countries such as France are null and void, because you can be certain they were attained through means foul and pungent <Ale>

This is just another example of how most EPL fans and "pundits" view the football world... Rolling Eyes

Mr Edbrooke probably never saw the likes of Mihajlovic and Platini!!

    16. Jess (for Hounslow Harriers, 2002): If fictional goals are allowed, then Jesminder 'Jess' Kaur Bhamra's sublime strike in Bend it like Beckham should be considered.

    Wtf? Stupid c**ts.

    13. Xavier Zanetti (Argentina v England, 1998): He finished off a wonderfully woven free-kick in the World Cup win over England. Gabriel Batistuta lined up a 25-yard set-piece, but Juan Veron unexpectedly passed low to Zanetti who he hit a left-foot shot into the top corner.

    It should be Javier.

This is the biggest bunch of ball since the last naked black man.

Pierie hoojidonk (sp) Junhino, pirlo, Nakumura Alvez

I am perplexed into why these 5 people are not on the list.
