Time to learn the lyrics so you can sing along Wink

    GRUNNINGS LAID

    Van Lauwerzee tot Dollard tou,
Van Drenthe tot aan 't Wad,
Doar gruit, doar bluit ain wonderlaand
    Rondom ain wondre stad.

    Ain Pronkjewail in golden raand
    is Grönnen, Stad en Ommelaand;
    Ain Pronkjewail in golden raand
    Is Stad en Ommelaand!

Doar Broest de zee, doar hoelt de wind,
Doar soest 't aan diek en wad,
Moar rusteg waarkt en wuilt het volk,
Het volk van Loug en Stad.

    Ain Pronkjewail in golden raand
    is Grönnen, Stad en Ommelaand;
    Ain Pronkjewail in golden raand
    Is Stad en Ommelaand!

    Doar woont de dege degelkhaid,
    De wille, vast as stoal,
Doar vuilt het haart, wat tonge sprekt,
    In richt- en slichte toal.

    Ain Pronkjewail in golden raand
    is Grönnen, Stad en Ommelaand;
    Ain Pronkjewail in golden raand
    Is Stad en Ommelaand

    it'll be a 2-2 draw Ale

Whose anthem is that, the Province Groningen's or the City Groningen's? Doesn't sound like it's the clubs.

Anyway how should I pronounce it (can you do a phonetic version Wink )

Guess 'golden' is pronounced as gold'n, you don't do e's before a final n do you?

Isn't their some song about the Martinitoren, is that the city's anthem?

It's the Province's anthem....and as the province *is* the city I don't think there's a separate anthem for Stad.

We swallow our 'e'-s and prolong our 'a'-s.

"Name a 47 letter Gronings dairy product...."

    "Chocolaadevlaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"

    or

"how does the Groningen alfabet go ?"

"A mien jong, B mien jong, C mien jong etc."

    or

There's a Grunniger on holidays in London. He's looking out over the Thames at night when a Londoner, also enjoying the view says to him : "It's a quiet night"

To which the Grunniger responds :
    "Kwait ook nait..."

    or

the one with Samsonite cases....but that's too difficult to do in writing (Samsonite sounds like "they don't have them" in Grunnigs)

You'll be far into strange territory coming weekend Wink

Yep the bus leaves bloody early. Glad it's not an early kick off. The only Grunnigs I'll hear is "Doorlop'n" by the local riot police. Anyway hope for a great match with us winning of course.

By the way do you remember Peter Houtman as a player? Koevermans plays nearly exactly like him.

edit: I would also start making blues in Grunningen

The summation is a mistake. Houtman played 3 times for Groningen as described above. Very funny carreer bouncing to and fro from Rotterdam to Goningen.

Amaxing record for Holland 7 goals in 8 matches.

More top matches will be great for Dutch footy. Don't worry, you've got plenty of talent to be part of those 16. Would be good for Sparta too, would mean more cash for you guys too.

is Alves that good? i.e will he be a RVN or a Kezman?

VVV whats their annual transfer budget?

    Van Der Wiel that good?

is De Guzman ready for the jump to the EPL?

Wouters until January; Vergoossen ad interim until the end of the season & thereafter HSV's current manager Stevens.

Alves is very good. He'll succeed in a big league.

Haven't got a clue, probably something like 1M euro (depending on proceeds of selling players). Maybe even less. Their annual budget only is a few M.

Not convinced by him yet, better ask Ajax fans I saw him only v Feyenoord & in that match he was shite.

De Guzman is ready for the EPL

S&G seem to have problems fulfilling their promise; they hardly get a chance at Ajax. Expected most from Sarpong, but maybe he has the wrong mind-set.

Fey is right he is better than Beerens... But then, Beerens will be just a good player for a team outside the top 4...

Not convinced by him yet, better ask Ajax fans I saw him only v Feyenoord & in that match he was shite.

De Guzman is ready for the EPL

Van der Wiel shows a lot of promise & De Guzman won't make it : serious attitude problem.

Please don’t judge his potential in ONE game its not fair on him and yourself. Van der Wiel is one of the few current Ajax prodigies that I have the utmost faith in and can go far. Siem de Jong is another, he will be better than Sneijder I guarantee it.
