He had 1 good season there, buffered by scoring against minnows in prequalifying rounds. How in the world does that make him better than Cole and Arteta who have dropped at least 3 consistently good season each in the same position.

I've always thought Cole was over rated. He never scores or assists regularly. Just has good moments in certain games.

Arteta is only in his second good season.

When Gerrard plays on the right, he's generally very good.

I think Cole was a big reason for Chelsea winning the second title, from about December onwards he played a very significant part, particularly as the favoured Robben Duff axis was crumbling under constant injuries.

Arteta was good prior to last season as well just not well noticed but even if we do go by your judgement of this being only his second good season he's already ahead of Gerrard in that respect.

Every right sided player in the country has a different role for his club from his counter part, so by your technically astute understanding they should all have different job titles.

I agree

I think with prolific strikers, when your picking out of a hat it all comes down to preference, if you were choosing for your club then you look for a striker with the set of attributes which suit the team which may be different from the so called 'top striker'

E.g Utd's Yorke and Cole partnership, maybe not the best individuals upfront but collectively they surpassed the majority if not all other partnerships, i think i rememeber Utd fans wanting Shearer and Batistuta, now they were top strikers at the time, doubt they'd look back to change history now mind you.
