Has this match become more significant or is it still a meaningless tie? What kind of line-upss can we expect? Will Rafa field an unchanged team for the 3rd time in a row or will it be 11 new players? What about Grant/ten Cate?

Yep, battle of the losers. One holds both domestic cups, the other reached the CL final. I'm sure you Feyenord fans wouldn't mind being called 'losers' (not that you already aren't ) and achieving this.
Regarding the team: Cudicini, Belletti, Ben Haim, Alex, Bridge, Essien, Ballack, Lampard, SWP, Kalou, Sheva.

Unlike Chelsea, Feyenoord -spelled with 2 o's- have already won a European Cup, a World Cup (the old one with home and away ties v the South American Champs) & 2 UEFA Cups.S4P wrote:Yep, battle of the losers. By the way that's a very strong line-up. Anyone have a guesstimate what Rafa will come up with?

This is the Ballack comeback at last SP? Tell me more...
Here's hoping that Ballack-Essien central midfield doesn't click straight away...

Hope your players don't start with the same attitude. Fulham, Everton, Blackburn, Rosenborg, Valenica all returned with a draw this season. Can't see why Pool can't win there. Not odds on of course, but you have a decent chance.Luis wrote:We'll lose, no one wins at Stamford bridge

Yep exactly, draws, no one wins there though and if it went to penalties I'd be amazed if we won again

can see chelsea playing a strongish side, on the basis they don't have too much option.
wot will the pool team be? having played 2 v strong sides in relative teams in the last week, wholesale changes or another v strong team?

I think it will be a mixture:

.....Arbeloa........Carragher.......Hobbs............Aurellio..............
....Benayoun........Lucas..........Alonso (maybe)........Babel....................

Each team has been battered off the park, but our poor finishing (and a splendid goal from Cahill) has earned them a draw. I expect the same against Pool (poor finishing I mean) so they might just have a chance. Hopefully Rafa plays Kuyt and Voronin in that case.

Back in full training last week. Played a couple of friendlies but wasn't quite ready to go straight into the Arsenal game. As long as there hasn't been any setbacks he should play some part tomorrow night.

Good to see Crouchie shout 'f@ck off' to the Chelsea fans as he went down the tunnel. I wonder if there'll be a similar enquiry into this as there was with Ashley Cole-Arsenal fans.

Not a hope in hell and he hadn't been subjected to 90 minutes of abuse.

I don't see any improvement in our style under Grant and Cate. Not likely to either (unless they spend well in Jan and the summer).

Frank you confounded fool, this is for you:
Charles Itandje was voted Liverpool's star performer during the 2-0 Carling Cup defeat at Chelsea by the Reds fans who took part in an exclusive vote on this website.
Meanwhile Lucas took the Liverpoolfc.tv accolade.
After each game we ask you to pick the Reds' top three players - and we'll pick ours too.
The winner of each poll then gets three points, the runner-up gets two and the third best player gets one. At the end of the season the points are totted up to reveal our star performer.
Liverpoolfc.tv's top three players v Chelsea
1. Lucas. The Brazilian was always a threat and his passing, especially in the first half, was outstanding.
2. Charles Itandje. The French goalkeeper made some excellent saves and he showed his qualities.
3. Jamie Carragher. So unlucky with the deflection for Frank Lampard's goal, and he didn't deserve it because he fought so hard for the team cause.
Liverpool fans' top three players v Chelsea
1. Charles Itandje. 461 votes.
2. Jamie Carragher. 447 votes.
3. Lucas. 279.

The problem is here Ade, in Franks eyes that will make perfect sense because us Liverpool supporters don't really know what we're talking about!
