Racing Santander are closing in on a deal with Crvena Zvezda for Serbian striker Nikola Zigic.
The 25-year-old giant has been linked with a string of European clubs this year including Premiership sides Arsenal, Portsmouth and West Ham United and Dutch giants Feyenoord.
Zigic now looks set sign to the Estadio El Sardinero for the next four seasons though, and Santander coach Miguel Angel Portugal has welcomed the move for the 6ft 8in international.
"We need a striker with those characteristics to pose problems to rivals," Portugal enthused.
Racing opened up their Liga season with a 1-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid and will be hoping to get the player bedded in to help in their next Liga outing at Getafe on September 10.
What the hell is going on? They looked thoroughly unambitious and relegation candidates up until a week ago... now they're going to have a strike force of Sobis and Zigic!
