Post by Effenberg Mon Jan 07, 2008 1:37 pm

This thread will be open until they've found him. Please do not let this thread turn into an Otto vs Dutchies hatefest (or any other hatefest), thank you.

    NEWS-

    Hoeness:

    - It can take 2-3 months or 3 weeks.
    - A foreigner is definitely an option.
    - We will not (yet?) approach a coach that is still under contract with another club.
    - Coach has to speak German. Plenty of time for candidates to learn it until July.
    - "We all know the next one has to stick."
    - No contact with either Finke or Lippi.

Raphael Honigstein article in SZ about Mourinho:

    http://www.sueddeutsche.de/sport/bundesliga/artikel/414/151037/

    - Bayern is his third favorite option after Barcelona (where Cruyff apparently doesn't want him) and Liverpool.
    - He's expecting a call from Bayern this week.
    - An unlikely option because, you know, he's Mourinho. He would clash with Hoeness/Rummenigge/Kaiser in no time and turn the club into FC Hollywood for good.
    - According to Hoenigstein "he is a playboy who likes to flirt with numerous girls, if only to verify his own status." Well put.

In my opinion these are other acceptable candidates that are being talked about (in my order of preference):

    - Hiddink (possibly going to Chelsea in summer)
    - Veh
    - Rijkaard

In my opinion, coaches that should be talked about more:

    - Van Gaal
    - Adriaanse (?) (Dutchies, I remember one of you told me he was great. What's he doing coaching Al-Saad?)

In my opinion candidates that should not even be discussed:

    - Matthäus (moron)
    - Klinsmann (made people believe he was an actual coach)
    - Klopp (could NOT handle a big club, plus he's annoying)
    - Van Basten (plays Cr@p football)
    - Benitez (only seems to work with unlimited resources, which we don't have)

Feel free to add whatever you hear and give your opinions. Thank you.

Martin Jol? Why not, he knows the club and with Spurs on your CV it aint too bad.

But if he is good enough, I really doubt it.

van Gaal will be most likely, he always said he wanted to coach Bayern once in his life.

Van Basten should not be mentioned whatsoever, he's agreed terms to coach Ajax after Euro 2008. Van Gaal would be great for Bayern, should be on good terms with Der Kaiser.

Like I said the other day, I think Hoeness should consider to retire one year earlier. That would make it easier to sign an international top coach, Hoeness and Mourinho or Hoeness and Hiddink etc. together on the bench won´t work in the long run.

Then the new coach should also do the sportive part of Hoeness job, while Bayern should sign someone else for the commercial part. This way the new Bayern coach would be totally independent in his domain.

The best coach for Bayern imo would be Arsene Wenger, but he would hardly leave Arsenal for Bayern I think. My second favourite would be Rijkaard should he leave Barcelona, then Hiddink, who will probably go to Chelsea though.

Mourinho is surely interesting, but he would have to learn German first, then he´s surely very expensive and his ego is probably too big for Bayern and the Bundesliga.

Actually the best coach for Bayern would be Ferguson as he knows how to handle cash bring in youngsters play attacking game how to deal with the expectations of winning then Arsene but neither would leave so Van Gaal.

Not really fair as he didn't have great resourcs at Valencia. Much of Valencia's big spendingwa post Benitez and it achieved f@ck all.

You're right about his time at Valencia, of course. However, all you hear out of Liverpool these days is him asking for more money to buy more players. I'm not sure if from there he can revert to being a coach that can make something happen with the players he has. While Bayern have recently spent some money, I doubt that in the near future the club will invest more in 3-4 players than that insane sum he so willingly spent on Torres alone.

I think it depends on whether there is a long-term plan or not. Some of the players he has signed are clearly for the future. Sounds a bit like he is engineering an exit from Liverpool, but unlike at Valencia he wants to be sacked so he gets compensated.

They're a bit like Lothar (although nowhere near as big a c**t as he is)....

Well I for one am delighted with this decision!!!

    From 1. July 2008

    Jürgen Klinsmann will become Bayern-Coach

    11.01.2008

Ottmar Hitzfelds heir will be a familiar face in München. Ex-Bundestrainer Jürgen Klinsmann will become head coach at Bayern on July 1st.

Klinsmann was a Bayern player from 1995 to 1997, winning the League Title and UEFA Cup in that time.

    Press conference at 15:00
