1-1 good result for us, but Sevilla deserved to win it..

Henry, Milito and especially Márquez had good games, whereas Abidal and Eto'o struggled.

Still, I am quite happy.. MOTM Capel closely followed by Alves

I think sevilla will go out because they always choke when they play the big teams away from their home.

Good game by Sevilla. My thoughts on the game:
    - Crespo absolutely pwned Gio, but offered litlle going forward.
    - Capel shows potential, but I dislike the way he tries to outsprint the opposition rather than dribble past them and his crossing needs to improve a lot.
    - Chevanton, Iniesta, Xavi & Maresca were $h!te.
    - Henry was the best Barca player.

Had they started with Navas I reckon they could have won.

Stupid starting lineup by Schuster. After playing horrible for the past 3 games, what does Schuster do with Raul? Starts him in this game! Doh

Soldado is not even in the bench and I don't see the point in starting Robinho in such a meaningless game either. Give Drenthe a chance ffs! What the hell did we pay 13 million Euros for?

Soldado is out injured. Van Nistelrooy has been rested and Raul is still a better option than Saviola. My problem is Salgado: should have played Torres on the right and Marcelo on the left.

Higuains was a super volley from the corner of the area after a bad clearing. it came right after mallorcas which was a goal that came after a corner where it ended up just infront of a player(cant see who with this stream though).

Am i the only one who thinks things are working better without diarra+baptista. defensively maybe not so much but offensively there is more flow over our game. allthough it comes in bits. it also helps that our front striker, higuain, can go past players and make a good quick pass when it is played up to him.

To be fully honest, I don't think one can deduce anything from playing against Mallorca B in the Copa. Also, I think they have outplayed us in this half which is not a good sign.

i dont agree. they first part of the game i thought they had good control over us allthough they didnt create any danger except from corners. after higuain scored i thought we did well to keep the ball and pass around. and from what i read we couldnt pass against a third division team last time we played in the copa so i see it as improvement. Did we watch the same game? I thought we were mediocre if not cr@p; disjointed and somewhat half-arsed. I thought playing Raul and Robinho in the starting line-up was a bad idea, I'd have tried Balboa and Saviola (as Soldado was not available); the back four was OK considering the injuries and the league match on Sunday.

I have some worry that we may not go through to next stage, and the exit of Copa could be the start of decline like the 2003-04 season... affraid

I think what we can deduce is that we are in big trouble if we ever have to play without Ruud. We have no '9' aside from RVN that Schuster has confidence in (sorry Soldado!) and IMO we had better find one in the January transfer market. No combination of Higuain, Raul, or Saviola is going to work. We have to have a centre forward paired with a second striker or else we are going to have problems.

Anyhow, 2-1 is a fine result for the first leg away from home. We should have every reason to believe we can over turn the result in the Bernabeu.

Well, I really don't care about the Copa to be honest. If we already go out part of me will be happy because it will decrease our load of games in the coming months. With the CL and the league, the Copa is surplus to requirements. If Schuster truly played our B team for the Copa I wouldn't care, but he uses too many important players. Ramos has already played at least 180 minutes or more. Can you imagine having the likes of Robinho or Ramos injured in a stupid Copa game? Last night it could have easily been one of them who got injured instead of Balboa.

But you're right about the potential chaos that could emerge if Ruud gets injured. I would argue for Solado to get a chance but it's obvious Schuster doesn't trust him. At the same time, who can we buy though? The class strikers that are available are cup tied. (except Anelka Laughing) The best course of action may be to wait until the summer and buy a class number 9, rather than buy a second rate forward now and get rid of him in the summer.

I care about the Copa! But clearly Robinho was not up for it (whether intentional or not) so why not give Drenthe a chance, he wouldn't have done worse starting the match. Sergio Ramos pretty much had to play last night because of all the injuries to defensive players and if Schuster isn't going to give chances to Soldado he certainly isn't going to call anyone from Castilla (which is full of a bunch of sh!t foreignors anyhow).

I think if Soldado had more than 7 minutes every other month, he could really do a job for us. Maybe if we sell Saviola he will get a chance but somehow I doubt it. Maybe we can get Urzaiz from Ajax on the cheap. Biggrin

I read somewhere that soldado was injuried just before they traveled and that he was set to play in the copa. so he might get chances in the copa.

He is suspended for the weekend match is more to do with Schuster's "fuck the youth policy" attitude, I'd have thought.
