Adebayor if anyone. In the league at least, he's been our stand out player this season.

I understand and enjoy elegance, but there's going to an extreme which makes you think these people would prefer to watch a freestyle football competition more than a match.

I know I didn't mention Hleb, Keane and Elano who could have decent shouts to at least be on the shortlist. Never thought someone would bring up Clichy though.

The Arsenal fans are desperate for someone to hype now Fabregas's goals have dried up (making his early season form a fluke) and RVP is injured.

It's quite funny that a team would nominate a pretty average leftback just because they're dying to get someone on the list apart from Adebayor (the only Arsenal player who has genuinely impressed me this season).

    lol!
"dying to get someone on a list" Is that one of your main objectives for Southampton this year: Get more than one Southampton player nominated for players of the season. It ranks pretty far down for me funnily enough, besides such trivial things such as winning competions and leagues.

Besides, would you care eleaborate how Clichy is average?

Firstly, making tedious jibes about Southampton just makes you look a Pr!ck. Not every club can be a bourgeois billionaire slave owning pedophile's fantasy, and contrary to what Arsenal fans believe, that's a good thing for the game.

Secondly, Clichy in any league where athleticism wasn't the primary attribute would be shown up for the average player he is. Has he ever played particularly well in the CL? Not that I've seen. Internationally? Not really. So, aside from maybe a dozen games for Arsenal over the last two years where he's done pretty well, mostly against run of the mill sides, what has he done?

Just because there's a dearth of good left full backs in the league doesn't make Clichy a top class player. Have some fucking standards...

What has Evra done in Champions League football or on the International arena? Frankly that's horrible excuse considering we're debating the best players in the LEAGUE for this SEASON.

As for only performing in a dozen league matches against cack opposition this season, Ronaldo, Kuyt, and SWP would disagree. Granted, Kuyt is hardly a major coup, but it's not Clichy's fault Rafa played him on the right. Ronaldo was in his pocket all day, the only time Ronaldo even showed a hint of quality was when he scored, playing on the LEFT, due to Fergie being tired of his star player's runs leading to dead ends against Clichy. After that piece of play it was Clichy's cross that was directed into the path of Gallas that lead to our equaliser. As for the game against Chelsea, his MOTM award from Sky tells the story.

I was asked not to justify why Clichy wasn't one of the best half dozen leftbacks in the league this season, but why I said Clichy was average. I did that, so you bring up some criterion which had nothing to do with the question I was answering. Terrific...

As for only performing in a dozen league matches against cack opposition this season, Ronaldo, Kuyt, and SWP would disagree. This is what amuses me about Arsenal fans - when the opponents have a bad game, it's always because the Arsenal player played so well. Just like playing games in London is apparently harder for the London based Arsenal team than it is for Newcastle or Everton travelling hundreds of miles. Just like when they got to the CL final they could never admit that Juventus and Madrid were massively disappointing in that tournament, it was all about how well Arsenal did and how they'd beaten world class teams.

Really, this is so stupid I can't even be bothered to refute it. That you'd bring up Kuyt is, well, I don't need to say it.

After that piece of play it was Clichy's cross that was directed into the path of Gallas that lead to our equaliser.

A fluke of a goal, and you cite this as evidence of him playing well? Jesus, you might as well say Gallas is the best striker in the league against top four teams...

Ronaldo had instant results when he was moved to the Left hand side, did he not? Which suggests to me had trouble getting by Clichy. Don't give me the "Ronaldo was crap" excuse.

Against us he was up against Shaun Wright-Phillips, who is perfect for Clichy - very quick yes, but also small. Possibly the only winger in the league smaller than Clichy. I don't think he would get a MOTM award if he was up against Joe Cole or worse someone like Kevin Davies for example.

Hey BM, let it go. This is a man who equates insulting someones mother with the recommendation of watching a football team. And when it comes to football, well let me just say he actually thinks Carragher is better on the ball than Terry. After that shocker, there is no need to seriously discuss any football matters with him.

As for the game against Chelsea, his MOTM award from Sky tells the story.

    pffftt

Ronaldo set up two great chances one of which was scored, and scored himself. How is that being in someone's pocket?

These days Ronaldo does not spend the whole game destroying the full back, he does what is neccasary anywhere on the pitch. Even against Newcastle he scored a hat trick, but he hardly destroyed the full back, never in anyones pocket even though he didn't play great in that game. A total myth.

It wasnt a tedious did at Southampton, it was placing your tedious jibe at Arsenal in context. Jeez, it wasnt even a jibe. Incidentaly, whats wrong with the bourgeoisie?

Secondly, certainly, there are many pace merchants in the league, but a left back thats a pace merchant? Come off it. What realm of fantasy have we reached when left backs are frowned upon being fast. In any league, pace in defense is still an asset as it allows us to play a high line.

He was extremely well against Sevilla at home this year and for France, he's a backup to Evra who i believe to be the best left back in the league so its hardly a particularly big suprsie that he hasnt done much internationally.

Has SWP been your best player this season? affraid affraid

Far from it. It's just we were short on wingers for the Arsenal game. He's playing a more central role now (and having more success in that position too)
    Who has it been then?

    Cech or J Cole.

He is very boring at times, which is a shame, considering he is an intelligent and articulate guy. He should really make the most of his talents, instead of acting like a WUM every chance he gets. <Ale>

lol! As I said on the Off Topic board he knows bugger all about football. His reference to Rosy is the third I've read today (the other two were even more insulting) and I've only looked at half a dozen threads. Given that she doesn't seem to be on here any more it shows exactly who is obsessed with whom. lol!
