    Bully for him. <Ale>

-grand-pa DIDI has a higher tackling success rate than Mascherano

    Not suprising.

-Hamann is the third most accurate passer in the league

    Its easy to pass sideways.

-Santa Cruz has scored more than ZEROoney and has effectively the same goal per shot stats as Ronaldo

Santa Cruz has 12 in 23. Rooney has 7 in 14. Pretty much both 1 in 2.

    -Reo-Choker is BAD

    Can't argue there. <Ale>

I'm a fan of Hamaan, very good player and still for me the main reason why Liverpool turned that game round against Milan.

However an adventurous passer he is not. Very Happy

Doesn't surprise me - but aren't these just the totals, without much reference to the success of the dribbles and crosses?

-grand-pa DIDI has a higher tackling success rate than Mascherano

But a lower one than Clichy. What's your point?

-Hamann is the third most accurate passer in the league

No, he's attempted the third most passes.

-Santa Cruz has scored more than ZEROoney and has effectively the same goal per shot stats as Ronaldo

Santa Cruz hasn't had two relatively serious injuries to deal with, and having the same goals to shots ratio as Ronaldo is nothing, I repeat, nothing to shout about.

    -Reo-Choker is BAD

But, according to the way you understand these stats, is a better player than Hamann...

Yeah most offsides, no surprise there. One area Ade really needs to tidy up on, though he's been better in recent games.

I'm surprised to see how players from Germany or France have no difficulty at all to adapt to the PL!

Our english friends repeat every weeks PL is special this,PL is worst than ligue 1 or bundesliga but their jewells are all from inferior leagues!

Really, this is one of the silliest (and consequently funniest) things you've ever said. Saha has been MISERABLE this season, Giggs hardly any better, Ronaldo is to all intents and purposes a running and shooting machine and Tevez has been very hit and miss for Man U so far. They've not lost a game so far this season with Rooney on the pitch...

Oh dear Otto, one can only assume you've indulged a few too many jagermeisters in your coffee this morning mein freund ;-)

As for Cronnie and Carlos - these guys, particularly Ronaldo, are the headline grabbers, the flashy bobby dazzlers hogging the dancefloor,

however Rooney is the foundation on which they stand, the tiled illuminate floor containing the sub woofers and disco lights which allow the boys to spin their moves like, as Prince crooned, it's 1999 all over again.

Remove Rooney, and you only have to witness Cronnie and Carlos sinking in the 'mire, their light suade loafers sticking in the mud, the lights gone, the music lowered and limbs flailing out of tune.

For a PERFECT example of this, the Aston Villa game shows how much Rooney means to United's Triumvirate.

Like Best, Charlton and Law before them,

Rooney-Ronaldo-Tevez simple fails to operate without Wayne in the side.

The stats tell it all. As do the performances.

I now declare you officially educated dear Otto. No excuses now in the future for such baseless ramblings, not even blaming the alcohol. Asl my my ex about that after she caught me on the floor in the kitchen with the neighbour's wife. Blaming the booze got me nowhere. WG <Ale>

yes but apparently that's all gerrard does so it's amazing that he even made the top 10, let alone be the 2nd best of the attacking midfielders Wink

it's amazing how he is up there, above anderson, bentley, elano, barry, arteta etc, all proclaimed by this board to be better passers. Makes me wonder about the knowledge pool we have here Wink
So what? Hleb has been a better passer than Cesc this season and he's not on this list. How many passes and how many complete doesn't tell us anything about the nature of the pass. No one cuts a defence like Hleb: no one does a better through ball than Elano; no one spreads the play like Scholes; and no one manipulates space in midfield like Cesc. Really Gerrard is not up there with with the real playmakers. You can call him a combative midfielder who score goals, whatever. But he's not an intelligent passer,
