A possible Leeds situation on the horizon.

amazingly there are teams even worse than them. thats how bad the lower half of the epl has got.Sgoater1 wrote: But are they bad enough to go down ?

Blackburn (h) Newcastle draw
Liverpool (a) Newcastle lose
Birmingham (a) Newcastle draw
Fulham (h) Newcastle win
Tottenham (a) Newcastle lose
Reading (h) Newcastle draw/win
Portsmouth (a) Newcastle lose
Sunderland (h) Newcastle draw/win
West ham (a) Newcastle lose
Chelsea (h) Newcastle lose
Everton (a) Newcastle lose
I think only three look really winnable. I think it will be very very close and they could go if a few of the other teams find some form.

i feel bad for keegan, in that he's inherited a team low on confidence going into a nasty spell of fixtures - but i really can't think of a manager whose had much of a worse start in terms of results. 2 home draws against teams you'd hope to beat and 4 defeats by 3 or more goals.
teams like birmingham and wigan are poor, but still capable of grinding out a win here and there - which newcastle need to start doing.kas wrote:Newcastle won't go down because the teams below are too awful - Fulham and Derby are already gone, and then the likes of Birmingham or Wigan will end up filling the last spot.

reading are clearly in trouble now though - they've plummeted and it's going to be hard to turn it round. although looking at their fixtures, they've still to play a lot of the teams around them

Look at the fixtures since Keegan took over.
Bolton at home(0-0) - KK was only here for 2 days
Arsenal away(3-0) - Were we supposed to win this?
Boro at home(1-1) - Ripped off by shocking refereeing
Villa away(4-1) - Shocking performance
Man U at home - were we expected to win?
It's just unfortunate that KK arrived when we were hitting a run of difficult games.
don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Keegan. I said already i think he's been unfortunate to inherit a team so low on confidence, in such a tricky patch of fixtures. the problem is getting the confidence back enough to get some wins in the easier fixtures you've got coming up.Kimbo wrote:debaser wrote:teams like birmingham and wigan are poor, but still capable of grinding out a win here and there - which newcastle need to start doing.kas wrote:Newcastle won't go down because the teams below are too awful - Fulham and Derby are already gone, and then the likes of Birmingham or Wigan will end up filling the last spot.
