Fabregas set to sign new deal Empty Fabregas set to sign new deal

Saw this as one of the main stories on BBC Sport. Seriously, not a wum thread but why would he need a new contract when he's just signed a 7 year one?!

"I have six years remaining and they are interested in renegotiating".

To secure him on a higher wage to fend off any interest, is ultimately going to be the answer.

Its as much a vocal confirmation that he wants to stay at Arsenal to any interested clubs, as it is securing him to a consistantly long contract.

Fourth season unprotected contract law. Not worth the risk allowing it to ever be enacted.

As others have said, giving him a wage that reflects his importance to the team is the main objective here. He signed his previous eight year deal when he was only 19, his stock has obviously risen significantly since then.

I would say he is on about £40k at the moment. Double this please Mr. Edelman.

It's mainly for higher wages and to ward off the recent talk (generated by SPORT) of Barça making a move this summer. The best for Arsenal fans is that it seems that it's the player himself who has initiated these talks.
