8 red cards, this is getting silly...
By the way this is what Channel 4 had to report on the matter:
However, Inter's already poor disciplinary record worsened just before the break when Pele' received his second booking for a foolish and clumsy tackle on Ivan Juric. It was the eighth time this season the Nerazzurri have gone down to 10 men.
And 8 red cards does not sound silly to me. It's a known fact now that you have indisciplined players in your ranks.
We do have a few indisciplined players, but Pele isn't one of them. I don't care what your beloved channel4 wrote, I saw the cards and the second yellow was harsh.
As for the disciplined players, some of the cards given against them have been more on reputations than anything else. Its unfair, but its true and these things are a reality. Overall this season, the refrees have costed us more than they have favoured us - 10 RED cards in total, its un-freakin-believable!!! But $h!t happens, sometimes... I guess you can't blame the refs for making a few mistakes each game, its a part of football.

Re: Serie A - The 2008-09 season thread
Feel for ya Pirlo, and actually feel for Ancellotti. Berlu & Galliani have ruined this season for Milan.... its not like they needed to spend big time, just needed 2-3 quality players. Personally I think that Ancellotti has served his cycle at the Milan bench and its time to bring in fresh ideas, but I agree with you - this season cannot be blamed on Ancellotti.
Yesterday turned out to be a positive one for Inter, inspite of the red card and the late equaliser. Mostly thanks to Lazio and Behrami!! We extend the lead to 7 points now, which technically is 8 points due to our superior head to head. If we beat Juve in the weekend, the scudetto is as good as in the bag!

Pirlo wrote:Fiorentina have certainly the more difficult fixture remainders on paper, while Ancelotti was the most animated after tonights match that i've seen in a long time. It seems as if it's the first public sign of him aching to launch a tirade against the fat fucks running the direction of the club, but restraining himself. Calling the side 'old' in terms of mentality is probably the most disguised insult he can give presently, but he refused to resign, nor do i want him to. I'm happy with Ancelotti, i just wish the fats on the directorship would let him control the transfer policy and let us see a team again with his vision, for that Milan side with Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Rui Costa, Sheva and Crespo was my favorite.
It seems an old chest to keep bringing this up, but this season if those fat fucks on the board had acted after Calciopoli and last summer instead of placing trust in Dida, Gilardino, Favalli, Brocchi, and presenting us with EMERSON as our major summer signing then it's fair to say this campaign would be noticebably different:
Sampdoria are having a fantastic run, but i think there is a little chance of them finishing 4th, unless Fiorentina arrest themselves from their slump, just a disgrace that everytime Fiorentina make a mistake, we can't take advantage. I have no confidence at all in us finishing 4th, the problem is who we can attract by only offering UEFA Cup football? Only young players, which may not be so bad in the long term, but the fans and the club have no patience for the long term.
It angers me to hear people blame Ancelotti, blame those stupid dumb fucktits who tore up contracts for Buffon and Toni and failed to secure us anything apart from Pato, who incidentally i feel very sorry for, having to carry this burden and pressure. Kaka is injured and shouldn't be playing, we have to get him ready for next campaign, this year he has contributed nothing - not of course his fault, but the selfish club for putting pressure on him to play through this injury.
Anyway, time to drink, fack the fat facks

Re: Serie A - The 2008-09 season thread
From the opening minute it was noticeable that Lazio were there to play. They didn't stop pressing when our players had the ball from start to finish. They played their usual physical style of play and I felt like that really got to us. We just didn't turn up, not in the first half anyway. I hoped that the fluke goal would rejuvenate us but it only spurred the Laziale up more. Perhaps it was one big game too far for us, or maybe we went into the game overconfident, not giving Lazio the respect they deserved. I'd say both, lethargic and uninterested is something I have never uttered when talking about a Roman derby, but that's what I saw from the guys in red and Lazio took full advantage, infact they were the opposite, they looked rejuvenated and up for the game. Granted, no team is brilliant all the time and I think part of this arrogance might have been natural mental fatigue after a very tough run, during which we were brilliant. Still, it was only the first half and I was pleased that we escaped level with them. Yes their goal came just before half time but on the balance of play it was more than deserved. I figured Spalla would give the players a good bollocking, tell them what was at stake, what this meant to the fans, tell them that this was our chance to gain points on Inter. We weren't much better in the second half, I didn't know where a goal was going to come from.
I thought the penalty decision was horrible, if anything it was Juan who was pulled down. A terrible decision that should never have been given, I mean these sorts of things are what end a team's Scudetto chances!
There after they boys finally got stuck in and we started dominating. We got a goal through a great late run into the box from Perrotta and a neat finish with Ballotta going the wrong way, game on! For the next couple of minutes Roma dominated and it only looked like there was only going to be one winner. That was not the case though, after our brief dominance Lazio did well to take steam out of the game and that derailed us. Spalla brought on Mancini, but apart from a few nice touches failed to create anything. It's a shame that we managed to be brilliant in this game only about 15 minutes or so. but that is no tactical mistake or something different selection would have changed. most of the game we simply hadnt energy to match Lazio work rate and running. I still felt that we could have done more in the second half though. Okay then, a draw I'll take it I guess, Lazio played well enough to deserve it, then BAM! I felt faint, my stomach seemed like it was going to give way, it couldn't handle Behrami and the other Laziale running through the running track that I had dreamt Roma of doing on the last day of the season after a shock Scudetto win. Overall though I maintain that we didn't deserve to win, neither did Lazio though, mediocre at best going forward. They were simply trying to hold out for the draw, I still can't believe the won the game!
I thought Ledesma was fantastic, player of the match. He was the one who really lead the Lazio charge, broke up all the play that we attempted to make from midfield. Zanetti's last minute goal and Ledesma's excellent performance, what did we do to the Argies to deserve this?
As for our players they were all far from great. Doni has never filled me with confidence but I had faith in him to not have a complete shocker in the Derby. Should have saved the penalty, in all honesty it was an awful penalty from Rocchi, Doni guessed the right way and it seemed to me that he was trying as hard as he could to get under the ball so it would go in. All he had to do was stick out an arm or something! Also had a part to play for their first and third goal. What were him and Juan doing? Of all the people to get your wires crossed, please don't pick your countryman and the man that convinced you to come to Roma in the first place! If it was Mexes you could atleast say you didn't understand each other but Juan? Come on!
Aquilani really disappointed me. It looked like he was playing an exhibition match, trying flicks and tricks. FFS man, not in a derby! Taddei was a disgrace, did he even complete a pass? I know his defensive capabilities are essential but if he isn't providing anything at all then take the man off at Half Time! Why did Cicinho play on the left? It was obvious he couldn't play as LB, he was crippled technically and mentally. Everytime he got to the byline it was obvious that he was going to cut inside. Bad decision making from Spalla. I would have played either Cassetti or Panucci at LB, they've got experience there. It was the wrong time to experiment. Vucinic seemed our most capable attacker, did well considering he was heavily man marked. One of the few players that ran themselves into the ground. Totti was playing in a Trequartista position for large parts of the match. Probably because he wasn't getting any of the ball from midfield.
Although I don't feel like Lazio deserved the win I have to congratulate them on their wonderful tactics and great smothering game that contained our midfielders. Congratulations Bobo.

Well said BM. I'll be the first to admit that a draw wouldve probably been a fair result. A very entertaining game though, end to end stuff. There were times where Roma were dominating us and i thought we were going to collapse but we showed great spirit to come back.

Good summary... but current form has no role to play in derby d'italia. This is easily the most bitter game in europe. What ever the form, this game will be tough and physical and anything can happen. I expect a close 2-1 win for Inter, and juve crying over some ref decisions:P

Lately the tide has been turning the other way with the Inter coach complaining about ref decisions...& of course the same for Inter fans who are doing the same in a more veiled fashion. So who knows if there is another red card ...hope it's the 9th one for the season.
I think it will be a 0-1 win for Juventus

Re: Serie A - The 2008-09 season thread
FT. Roma 2 Vs 1 Empoli
Poor performances from most of the players and especially the defence. Roma should not be struggling against a team like Empoli. For the second time this season, at least we walked away with a win this time. Simply embarrassing at times to see Giovinco singlehandedly cut our defence to ribbons. Just shows you how important Mexes and Juan's partnership is to the team.
As of today 15 players have scored for Roma this season in Serie A, 16 if you count Champions League where Cassetti got on the score sheet.
Now to see some Del Piero magic!
Rubentus better not let me down!

Just need to buy Gilberto Silva to go with Sissoko and they're set.

Thats why I said begins , Juve need to add in the summer but they are doing 3rd with this team , there can be a serious bid for the title if they can add quality.A Tribe Called BM wrote:Dark Savante wrote:Come on Juve , the road to next year title begins here.
