Rooney not sent off is more important than the penalty. With Rooney off you almost certainly would have lost today and also the Chelsea match.

Why should he have been sent off?
The dive, the high lunge vs Samba and kickout with both legs (straight red as it was clearly deliberate IMO), the dissent: easily enough yellows to get sent off. All before the handball.

This is like me saying Tevez could have had a hat trick, Ronaldo 2 O'Shea 2, 2 penalties therefore it should have been 1-9. The 'dive' was a delayed reaction. But hardly a yellow card offense. The lunge was not dangerous and Samba was fine and acted to go to ground in the first place. By your logic he should have been booked for diving. He thought he was fouled and the ref gave the free kick the other way. He wasnt to happy but hardly a yellow for questioning the ridiculous decision. <Ale>

After this performance he should be demoted and not be eligible to referee Premiership games, how Brown wasn’t booked today was a mystery, I don’t know what rule book he is working from but that book must be missing the page (or does not have it at all) which tells you what constitutes to a penalty, was he the same referee who gave Chelsea a pen at Anfield?

The biggest chance was when Rooney could have played it infront of Ronaldo for a tap in, but he played it behind him then there was the possible penalty and Tevez almost scored. Nani changed the game a bit but some of his decision making is ridiculously bad. The goal in the end was 100% deserved and probably 1-1 is nice on Blackburn. Rooney simply misses to many chances.

Tevez scored another very important goal, but still not keen on him the guy really doesn't do enough.

The late surge with a late goal was just like 99 again cheers

Yet the worst miss of the game was the ball squared by Rooney to Tevez who missed the ball completely from 5 yards.

Rooney, despite the misses, is still your most creative player over 90 minutes.

Nani was v impressive when he came on. Shame he looks like a pepperami

    Villa;

    -------------Carson---------------
    Mellberg-Laursen-Knight-Bouma
    -----Petrov-ReoCoker-Barry----
    --------------Young---------------
    --------Carew-Agbonlahor------

    No alarms and no surprises

    Brum:

    --------------Taylor----------------
    Kelly--Jaidi--Ridgewell--Murphy
    Jerome-Nafti-Muamba-McSheffrey
    ----------Zarate-McFadden------

Dangerous pair upfront - they seem to have quite an attacking line-up (although I don't know how they usually play)

Kick off in 30 mins Crazy

aye, 'tis a bit rubbish. you'd think they'd show the big derbies as they're usually eventful games.

well to be fair they are showing the newcastle vs sunderland derby at 1.30 but Man City v Portsmouth, who cares!?

it might have something to do with the fact that the derbies are normally played at lunch time due to the policing of it....

Villa must fancy their chances of getting 5th now, they have some great momentum, beating Everton will see them go above them on goal difference at this rate.
