If talking right now, how can you have the money, when you can't be sure who will run the club. Both Hicks and Gillett are in hock to banks and can't get loans. Doesn't that mean you don't have money.

maybe Hicks will spend money this summer to try to win over the Liverpool fans, or maybe it will be sorted by then. I think we will have money in the summer.

Point was regarding approaching players who are under contract. You can't agree transfer with player under contract unless club he is contracted to agree to sell. I very much doubt that Barca has agreed to sell Eto'o, or Valencia Villa for example.

EMP, clubs often give permission to players agents to sell them or agree deals. For example Ronaldinho's agent may have a signed letter saying he can talk to clubs who are prepared to offer £Xm.

If we get relegated I can understand players wanting to leave, but unless that happens why should we let Villa's agent shop him around. It's crazy and undermines his buoyout clause. It makes no sense for Valencia to do it at least now.

Only this week hicks was promising to back rafa and strengthen the squad in the summer

The arguments are over control of the club. I guess it all depends on the future intentions of the owners. If hicks really is planning to stay long term like he says we will have plenty of spending power. Plus the CL run this year ensures that any spending from last year will have been more than met by income over the year. A lot of clubs buy players then pay them off over the year so we will have plenty to spend IMO

In summr maybe, but this is being talked of as if agreed. Targts like Villa, Eto'o et al will require serious dosh and at this moment in time it is far from clear what budget there will be at Anfield for new players until and unless the owners get some investors in or banks stump up loans. Either way can't see how agreement for major target like those mentioned could be certain now.

Cotr, Hicks has been refused loans from more than one bank this week. Until he sorts out his finances he can't guarantee anything. What if no bank wants to take chance on giving him a loan, but he refuses to sell? Where will transfer kitty come from? Why would any club do business with you unless you definitely have funds to buy the player? Have to get some work done now. On deadline. Will check in later.

He's only 16. He get's some leeway at least from me.

You can't get away with running a club like Levante has been run. You have to be fiscally responsibly. It might happen by summer, but you certainly aren't at this moment in time, so why would majorclubs do business with you for their top players until you can guarantee that they will be paid. Perhaps in summer, but definitely not now and these transfers were supposedly already arranged.

None taken Cotr. I don't, but it has been reported that Hicks has been refused loans this week. The fact that he is after loans suggests he either doesn't have money, or doesn't want to use his own. It might get sorted out by summer. I hope it does for your sakes, but all I'm saying is you can't have signed the targets listed earlier for reasons I mentioned.

Nobody knows. Isn't that the whole point of this thread? I think he's said 2 are youngsters and 1 is a first-teamer - the latter of which is what the speculation is about.
