Off topic but why is it always Africa? How come no poor central-Asian countries like Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan.

But really I was just pulling a poor region out of the hat I could just as well said some indian ocean nation or carribean. My point is why Africa in particular. I always get the impression there is a negative stereotype associated with Africa as a kind of beggar continent.

Credit to his PR man but still if that figure of 650k pounds is to be believed, then Bellend should still get some recognition. Although he could've done it silently.

Things like this should be publicised though. When players like Bellamy and Kuyt do things like this...it should get recognition, that some players do have a desire for football and helping others...rather than being a c**t and picking up their £100,000 a week (John Terry).

To be honest I'm amazed more modern footballers don't do thins sort of thing, either at home or abroad. Just how much of your £50,000 a week is disposable income?

I remember Nwankwo Kanu used to send some of his wages back to Nigeria...

Then there have been the likes of Fernando Redondo and Mauricio Tarrico not accpeting wages/cancelling contracts due to injuries.

Not all footballers are total c**ts...it's just good that someone like Bellamy (who is a target for many, and is disliked by many) has done something like this.
