Man Utd deserved the title but the way they won today was typical of their season. Wigan should have had a penalty, Scholes should have been sent off, but give Wigan a penalty and send Scholes off they still would have won.

Let's see if they can do it without any help next season. They probably can, so let them try Ale

That is soft! Wouldn't have been given to Wigan. Refs do Utd a favour, what a surprise.

I guess people will question the penalty Wigan could of had and Scholes being sent off, without mentioning the penalty Scholes should have been given.

    The penalty on Rooney though?!

Was you all swayed by Andy Gray saying 'oooh!! Controversial'. It was a complete stone waller, he got nothing of the ball and was at almost knee height on Rooney. Laughing

From one angle, near the goalie's perspective it was a 100% penalty but the ref's perspective he could have given it either way from where he was standing. I didn't think it was a penalty till I say highlights on Prem review show here in Ireland ok

    Well that presupposes that

    1) we won't win anything, and
    2) Benitez won't be sacked anyway if DIC take over.

I reckon that Benitez could still survive with no trophy next season if he got us to 85+ points, that would be a clear improvement.

In any case - my main object was just to pedantically point out that shouting FACT after an opinion does not in fact make it a fact. If you see what I mean.

If you was to get 85 points or more that'd be champions or at least 2nd place. That would be a massive improvement obviously and probably enough to impress the owners into thinking he's on the right course.

However whatever the points total, if he finishes 3rd or 4th again, then he probably has to win an FA cup or another CL or the pressure will be huge.

i'm not so sure points amount will be the deciding factor. imho it would be more related to a serious title challenge or not. ok your lot improved towards the end of the season, playing catch up but never in contention. he may end up finishing a few off like arsenal this season but if the season is all arse backwards again he could be in trouble imho. i thought after those first couple of games he'd realised away draws were cr@p, but then he goes to pompey and draws from that point on it was obvious your season would be much like it was.

Chelsea have got the highest points total ever for a 2nd place team this year with 85. So 85+ is a serious title challenge almost by definition.
