Roge, the whole EPL is changing every season though, when i were a kid, ffs you could lose 6 games and still win the title. then the losses reduced but still you could get away with a few draws, now even draws are dropped points which cannot be afforded. I can see this occurring quite regularly for a while, i assume arsenal's 3rd place total was a record too, which would support the changes occurring. the top 4 are getting away from the rest at an alarming rate, aided by ECL football money. (which is why i've said in other threads they need to try and level the playing field otherwise it'll get boring, ie it'll come down to the 12 games against each other, IF it isn't already)

While Chelsea clearly raised the bar in terms of points needed for a win, the winners have actually achieved less points in each of the last 3 years than the year before. So the competition has arguably got closer in that time. You're right that Arsenal's 83 point 3rd place is a record too, albeit only a point ahead of our 82 in 2005/06. But it just becomes mathematically very difficult for 2 teams to get over 85 points, let alone 3. 85 points would also be a record tally for Liverpool and so represents a decent psychological target.
In any case, if we are talking about what Rafa needs to achieve in order to avoid the chop, in my mind it very much depends what transfer funds he is given this summer.

I think Man Utd could have got over 90pts this and last season if we were not in the Champions League semi-finals.

You could say that any of the top four would have got more points if they played less games in cups.

Undoubtedly the volley was the best of the bunch. He's got close a few times this season with efforts like that.

Not just a pretty face are you?
Good goals, although why was Dunne sent off? For being a fat Irish?
Downing's volley was a peach. Still a $h!t team though, your top scorer with 9

10 in all comps!
Alves will be top scorer next season, sure about that. He's got something like 6 in 11.
Dunne was sent off for being last man, think that can be the only reason. Harsh but thems the rules.

I think that if my Auntie was my Uncle she'd have bollocks.
I honestly doubt it. You dropped points earlier in the season.
