No, doubt it. He's not going to leave Atletico if they qualify for the CL, and indeed, I can't see him moving to another club in Spain when he's done with Atletico. Plus when he does move, we're talking big big money.

Re: The Great Summer Sale in Barcelona
Barcelona are ready to change their transfer strategies by dealing on a straight swap basis between clubs and players, according to a report in Marca...
The Spanish sports daily claims that the Blaugrana are looking for a host of player trades this summer, rather than spending big or taking in hefty transfer fees.
The Camp Nou side are allegedly willing to offer Samuel Eto’o to Inter in return for Ibrahimovic, Xavi to Chelsea for Essien, and Puyol to Arsenal in return for Fabregas. The type of plan proposed would mean that players from different clubs wouldn’t have to play in the same position - for example a midfielder for a defender, and so on.
The Catalonian club are also keen on a compensation package for whoever they do business with. Rather than pay mega bucks in transfer fees, they would seek cash-plus-player deals wherever possible if the two involved parties differed in valuations. This would presumably be the case with Puyol, who would be a "cash plus player" swap for the highly sought-after Cesc.
Their plan would also mean that players could swap clubs only after one season rather than be tied to a lengthy contract. The Spanish club, perhaps, have had enough of dealing with agents as it seems as if they are trying to make it easier for players to move around.

Yeah right, we'll get Essien just for Xavi
Puyol out, when we are already short on CBs with Milito injured
And I don't want Ibrahimovic and his attitude problem either...the club is trying to recover from exactly that.
Who wrote that garbage? Did they even think for 0.5 seconds?

Re: The Great Summer Sale in Barcelona
puyol for cesc was a good one
A useless centre back in exchange for arsenal's most important player. Wenger will be delighted with that one
It would take another 30 million

I think we should buy Diogo and Zapater off Zaragoza if they go down... Two good squad players that are still young.

Re: The Great Summer Sale in Barcelona
Diogo is out for 6 months with some serious injury. So that's off.
As for Zapater, I reckon we can still get Poulsen for 10-12 million (he hasn't changed his contract has he?), so I'd rather have the latter.

Re: The Great Summer Sale in Barcelona
I wouldn't sign Diogo. After his "fight" against Fabiano he has been poor, nowhere near good enough to play for Barça (even as backup).
One interesting right back which a mate of mine suggested (before the press did) is David Cortes. Could be a decent backup.

What about Jonas from Mallorca - all the talk about him died down?
Arango is now a Spanish citizen...worth it as an impact sub? Certainly scores eye-catching goals, not sure how he is for 90 mins.

I would also try for Camacho.. David Cortes is a good idea.
I am not quite sure about Jonás.. He reminds me of a Maxi Lopez type. And as for Arango, I would take him on a free, but like you say, he is a bit unstable

Definitely not Barcelona material...he is the most inconsistent forward I've seen in the last years...I'm not even sure if I'd keep him as a starter if I was managing Boca...which may happen in a not so distant future...

Re: The Great Summer Sale in Barcelona
Eto'o actually looks like he might leave
So I would say Villa joining might is an actual possibility
Now the rumour is that Puyol will leave for AC Milan, very unlikely
And that we will exchange Eto'o for Trezeguet

If we get Villa for Etoo, I may actually get over the loss of Samu rather quickly. It'll be good to have a setpiece threat again too

Remember i said waste money nowadays which means in the laporta time.not saying that barca hasnt wasted money before but it hasnt been the case the last couple of years. Henry was a bad one and getting Zambrotta/Thuram for around 20 mil or so isnt a bad deal.golsud wrote:* 1. Javier Saviola, comprat per 35,9 milions d'euros, al River Plate (2001).

You have forgotten some great signings in the Laporta era. The "best" one Maxi Lopez (7m I think), Albertini (free but useless),Rustu ,Mario and Ezquerro. Didn't cost a lot but were a total waste of money (wages).

Benzema would be perfect for Barca, because for all the brilliance of Iniesta, Messi, Bojan, Eto'o etc, Barca need to get bigger, stronger and more powerful pronto.
