The Great Real Madrid Summer Sale Empty The Great Real Madrid Summer Sale

Post by Jaime Fri Jul 24, 2009 5:31 am

Yesterday Esteban Granero returned to Real Madrid while Dani Parejo is on his way to Getafe. There are still 29 players in the squad of which at least 4 must go before the beginning of the season. More if there are additional signings.

So...who won't be wearing the Real Madrid shirt in a month?

    1. Heinze
    2. Huntelaar
    3. Negredo, as the "more canteranos" and "more Spanish players" initiatives continue
    4. Drenthe on loan
    5. VDV won't be wearing the shirt, unless Adidas starts producing a XXXL size...but he'll probably go on loan

    25 man squad:

    Casillas, Dudek, Adan

    Ramos, Salgado

    Pepe, Garay

    Albiol, Metzelder

    Marcelo, Torres

    X. Alonso, Gago

    L. Diarra, M. Diarra

    Ronaldo, Robben, Granero

    Kaka, Sneijder, Guti

    Raul, Higuain

    Benzema, Van Nistelrooy

Since the current 29 only include two GK, I'd think 1 more will be added in that position, which will make the number of must go as 5, before possible signing of Xabi and/or Arbeloa. I think kas's list (not in order) are the most likely candidates for 5 though M.Diarra is anothe likely candidate, especially if the deal with Liverpool materialises. 25 man squad looks very probable (though I hope Raul and Higuain to swap the priority), assuming Kaka has EU passport if not M.Diarra would have to go. (I need to check if UEFA "home grown" directive may affect the squad... And is clear with, as far as I know, Casillas, Torres, Guti, Granero and Raúl as club trained, and Salgado, Ramos, Albiol and Negredo as association trained.)

I'd like to have seen more deadwoods exit and more canteranos in, but transfer season started from the best possible then has gone pear-shape for me.

Well, Garay is behind Albiol, Pepe, and Metzelder. Not sure whether he is in Pellegrini's plans or not. The rumours seem to suggest he is not. And supposedly there is interest from Lazio and Zaragoza so if there is a good offer I suppose we'd consider it.
