What Uni are you at? my cousin was pretty much a straight A student studied science at Uni, went into Risk Management after Uni and has a 6 salary figure Ale

Keep at it bud, this is a huge shortage for typically academic qualifications such as sciences and maths in the job market Ale

Went Uni in Liverpool, so for 3 years i went to loads of games, i also when younger played for Crewe Alex youth team (crewe have an affiliation with Liverpool for players and pre-season games, so got to go into the exec boxes and suites met players like Ince, McManaman, Fowler, Owen etc... Redknapp was a funny guy, gave me a footy once signed by the Euro '96 England squad), now i live in Cheshire its a little different, week day games are difficult to get to in time, and weekend games are difficult to manage with my G/F and social life, went to 6 games at home last season and Blackburn, Man City, Aston Villa away.

Will actively seek a season ticket if we ever get our new stadium sorted Ale

Sorry FG mate, my take-away just arrived so had to take care of business first. Can't say no to pepperoni pizza Razz

I'm studying at the Uni City of Dublin(UCD), don't know if you know of it. It is probably the most popular Uni in Ireland but not as well widely known compared to Trinity College. Which is our most famous one.

Cool, I was well interested in studying in Liverpool for obvious benefits as well as the education. Plus the fact I always love travelling over there. The Scousers are generally a great bunch, more so the Red half. They love the Irish cause of the obvious links between the Irish and Scousers in the past.

I also played youth football for a team here in Dublin, Shamrock Rovers who are in the Irish PL.

Cheshire, doing well for yourself aren't you Wink

Oh and if you go to any games this coming season give us a PM in advance, should meet up for a drink beforehand in the Albert. I should be making a lot more away games this season. Home games are getting ridiculously expensive these days. Should meet up with Lulu and the others if possible, would be a right laugh I could just imagine espically with Glenda Ale

My gf was going to choose enonomics. But heard different and not always the good views on it. Decided on History and Classical Studies instead.

I could never sit in room for 7 hours for anyone, I'm too easily distracted IMO. Glad with the job I have. I guess as long as the pay is good your grand though, saying that it must be a bummer with the weather being generally nice.

Oh and to going off on tangents Laughing <Ale> We're all guilty of doing that espically this place Very Happy

Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise is in Italy's capital to discuss a possible move to Serie A side AS Roma.

According to the AS Roma website, the club had been given permission by the Reds to discuss personal terms with the 27-year-old Norway international.

Defender Riise signed for the Premier League club in 2001 from AS Monaco and helped them to the FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League titles.

Liverpool told BBC Sport they would not comment on transfer speculation.

Last season ended badly for Riise when he scored an own goal in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea, which the Reds eventually lost.

    Official: Roma sign Riise

John Arne Riise is officially a Roma player after putting pen to paper on a four-year contract in his £3m move from Liverpool.

The announcement came this evening, only hours after he was given permission to fly in and speak to the Giallorossi directly.

Roma announced they will “hand Liverpool 5m Euros, to be paid in four instalments (on July 1 2008, September 30 2008, 31 July 2009 and 31 January 2010).”

The Serie A side will also give Liverpool 100,000 Euros for every two seasons in which the team participates in the Champions League, 75,000 Euros for every 25 appearances in an official game to a maximum of 300,000 Euros.

Norwegian international Riise signed a four-year contract today worth 2.8m Euros per season – just under £2m – along with performance-related bonuses.

The 27-year-old leaves Liverpool after 31 goals in 347 appearances since 2001.

I'm not going to bad mouth Riise, I think we have all made our views on him very clear espically during this season. He is clearly half the player he was 2-3 seasons ago or in his first season when he was a complete full back, getting assists and defending very well plus scoring some right crackers.

So I'll just wish him all the best as he has provided some of my favourite moments for Liverpool in the last 10 years plus he will be playing for my favourite Italian side, besides Brescia who are in Seria B.
He scored some real top goals as we all know and here are his best:

Oh and buy Ashravin and Pavlyuchenko <Ale>

Been said by moi and a few others here that Ashravin is class and would be a very good buy. Technically excellent and his general play is very very smart espically in those tight situations.

I had my doubts on Pavlyuchenko before the tourney, down to having spoken to fans of the Russian league and them said he was a bit hit and miss. But the same was said about Torres. He is a strong lad who has a good bit of pace about him and call on hold the line on his own. Think he is 24 years old, so is of a decent age and can still develop. His general play reminds me of Torres in a lot of ways.
Read I think it was in the Irish Times, saying Spartak Moscow have risen his valuation to £7M to ward off his interest from Celtic. I think he is the a perfect replacment for when Torres doesn't play and if the valuation is true would be well worth espically consdering Crouch is 95% likely to be leaving.

Oooh and wasn't it great to see Xabi have a belter of a game last night and he captained Spain for the first time. My MOTM from what I saw, admittedly. He was very unlucky not to score and his attempts at goal, both the half way line and post hitting shots were so close but just unlucky. Good to see Reina and Arbeloa start as well ok
Arbeloa looked quite solid if not specatcular and from the way Ramos is playing, think he should start.
