    Rules: Don't come here to spew hatred or nonsense.

    @Otto/Deisler: Behave yourselves.

    @Deisler: Spell-check.

    Thanks.

    Ok. Let's get started.

    - Ribery was successfully operated on yesterday. His recovery period will be about 8 weeks, which means he will probably miss the start of the Bundesliga season.

    - Bayern will meet with Stuttgart officials today to discuss a possible transfer of Mario Gomez.

    I think Gomez would be great for us, and I also look forward to seeing the best possible Bastian Schweinsteiger under Klinsmann.

    If Schweinsteiger can play like last night, then him and Ribery will be an unbelievable pair of wingers! Both can switch flanks too ok
    Probably only matched (on paper) by Robben-Ronaldo at Madrid???

    If Gomez comes, where will Podolski go - Spurs or Man. City I'm guessing?

    Podolski will stay too. That gives us 4 strikers, which is what you need if you want to go anywhere in Europe. Imagine you have only 3 and one of them gets injured. That basically means you're fucked when you play a match every three days.

    Bundesliga, 20.06.2008
    "We are not releasing Gomez"

    This afternoon, a meeting in order to exchange information took place between representatives of VfB and FC Bayern Munich. At the meeting, FC Bayern Munich expressed an interest in signing Mario Gomez: "We explained to FC Bayern that we will not be releasing Mario Gomez," commented VfB sport director Horst Heldt afterwards. Out of respect for Mario Gomez and so as not to inerrupt his concentration on the task he has in hand at the European Championships in Austria and Switzerland, it was agreed that there would be no further comment on the matter at this point.

    cheers

    Stuttgart would be stupid to sell him now imo. They can get the same money or maybe even more in two years. However, I think Stuttgart fans would let him go to a big club abroad, but letting him go to Bayern hurts.

    Even under Klinsi he will remain third choice or at best second choice behind Ribery. But hopefully he gets at least more match practise than during the last two years.

    Toni and Klose won't be around for too much longer though

    He would be a great buy for Bremen. You are crying out for a consistent striker, and I'm not going to lie and say I have seen a whole lot of Podolski domestically, but he has been consistently excellent for Germany in national tournaments. Maybe Bayern will do you a favour, unless they're complete c**ts they should offer a decent proposal considering they've taken Klose & Borowski off you

    „Sollte Gomez zur kommenden Saison wechseln, sind unsere Chancen ziemlich gut, glaube ich. Es ist doch klar, dass wir alles tun, um diesen Top-Mann zu verpflichten, bevor der nach Italien geht und die Leute sagen: 'Hey, wieso habt ihr euch nicht bemüht?´“, erklärte Hoeneß gegenüber der Münchner „tz“.

    What part of 'No, we won't sell him to you this summer' hasn't Hoeness understood? Grr Evil or Very Mad Seriously, no offense to the Bayern fans, but your club is really starting to piss me off. Stuttgart have made it clear that Gomez is not for sale so what on earth is Hoeness doing releasing statements like that, even if it's just to a rag like the TZ? When I was skimming the KICKER at the station yesterday morning, I came across the headline "If/When Gomez arrives, Poldi will leave".

    Once and for all: Gomez won't be joining Bayern this summer. Fullstop.

    According to Sportbild Prinz Poldi wants to go back home to Cologne and even though Bayern have much higher bids for him from foreign clubs, they would let him return to Cologne for "only" 15m Euro.

    Bayern Munich coach Jurgen Klinsmann has named Holland midfielder Mark van Bommel as the man to succeed Oliver Kahn as captain.

    The 31-year-old has been with the German giants since he moved from Barcelona two years ago and he was instrumental in Bayern winning the Bundesliga last season.

    "Mark is suited to this role," said Klinsmann. "Since the beginning of pre-season the team have been well led.

    "He is enthusiastic and is not afraid to criticise when he feels it necessary. He can also communicate with the team in many languages."

    Van Bommel, who can speak German, Spanish and English as well as his native Dutch, becomes the first foreign player to skipper the Bavarian club.

    Will Bayern be making any signings this season? I know Gomez is a no go (and that's good for the Bundesliga) but are they looking at any other players?

    With Toni, Klose & Podolski, you wouldn't think they'd need any more strikers anyway.

    Strange...good player, but Bayern now have Lell, Sagnol, Oddo for the RB slot and only Lahm on the left, though he can also play RB.

    Opposite of Milan where they have 3 LBs and one of them (Zambrotta) can cover RB Laughing

    What do people think are the chances of Bayern signing one of the first two?

    Angeblich hat Bayern München Interesse an Stürmer Pavel Pogrebnyak von Zenit St. Petersburg. "Die Verhandlungen laufen", soll der 24 Jahre alte Stürmer der spanischen Sportzeitung "Marca" gesagt haben. Außerdem hob er die persönliche Verbindung zu den Münchnern hervor: "Das ist mein Lieblingsteam, seit ich ganz klein war. Mein Vater hat mir als Kind ein Trikot mit der Nummer 18 von Jürgen Klinsmann geschenkt." Pogrebnyak hatte in der vergangenen Saison beim 4:0 von Zenit im Uefa Cup gegen Bayern zwei Tore erzielt.
    http://www.spiegel.de/sport/fussball/0,1518,581890,00.html

    Seems Bayern are in talks with Pawel Pogrebnyak. The fraggle from Premiere said last night he might join Bayern already during the Winter break.

    I guess that means:

    Poldi->Cologne
