Fulham will take on Italian Serie A side Torino FC at Craven Cottage on Saturday 9th August.

Don't go to friendlies normally as I can't be bothered for a meaningless game (with Celtic or Birmingham usually) unless it is exotic. A chance to see something I wouldn't normally. Still not to bothered to make the effort as Torino aren't exactly Juve.

I was wondering if the Italian league followers could tell me about Torino. Players it might be worth looking out for and how they usually play. Might sway me to go.

When is it mate? I might go, the leg is heeling fine and Craven Cottage is a relatively "Safe" ground.

Also good chance to see Rosina before Roma sign him. <Ale> Biggrin

As BM mentioned Rosina is their main man creator scorer , can play in wings AM SS , likely to move to a big club in Italy.

Di Michele used to play for Palermo...Diana for Sampdoria and Palermo...Barone for Palermo, Parma and Chievo...so yeah, you've probably seen them around. Barone and Diana have played for Italy too, Barone played in the WC06.

Got a Somalian mate who is a massive Torino fan, he'll be well pleased when I tell him about it. I'll definitely go if the match doesn't coincide with the Emirates Cup.

Hopefully Recoba is taken back on loan by the time the friendly kicks around. Always wanted Spalletti to go for Grella and Rosina. Grella would be a fantastic back up for De Rossi and Rosina is a better, younger version if Pizarro.

I really hope they do well next season, it's always a shame to see one of Italy's traditional powerhouses barely escape relegation, (Best team in Italy Pre WW2) especially a club with such a huge fan base. More Torino fans in Turin than Juve fans - FACT. Ventola was injured for important stages of the season so if he can get fit and contribute upfront alongside Di Michelle I really can't see why the Maroons can't finish in the top 10. The defence needs to be fixed up though, it was shocking last season.

Just to add to some of the good info above by Deano and BM - Torino have an excellent team which just failed to click last season, issues with injuries, tactics and form... some really exciting talents. Apart from the above mentioned Rosina, Recoba, Grella, Diana, Barone, Di Michele, & Ventola, here are some others I really like:

    - Motta, a very promising RB who hopefully will play for the Azzurri soon - I would like to see him in the plans when the new coach revolutionizes Italy. A lot of promise, has been a star for the Azzurrini, and showed glimpses of his talent at Udinese before joining Torino last season.

    - Corini, a name you must have heard. Easily one of the most under rated Italian talents of his time, he has been brilliant till he joined Torino last season... now 37, his best is clearly behind him, but he remains the closest Italian alternative to Pirlo even now.

    - Dellafiore, another former Azzurini talent, produce of the Inter academy. Of argentine origin, he always looked good but due to the excess talent at Inter in CB/RB positions, he was sold to Palermo. A prospect, but maybe not as much as Motta.

    - Lanna, the legendary defender of Chievo.

Assuming these players stay in Torino, and are fit, this is what their starting line-up looks like:

    ---------------Sereni
    Motta - Dellafiore - Lanna - Pisano
    ----Barone --- Corini --- Grella
    Recoba/Diana -------------- Rosina
    ------------Di Michele/Ventola

I expected this team to finish with a UEFA Cup spot, instead of fighting relegation battles... I might go for this game, since they have so many ex-nerazzurri stars (Recoba, Ventola, Dellafiore)

Definitely going on Saturday 2.00 kick off. Anybody know what new signings both clubs have made during the summer and how they are likely to gel?

Any fans from Torino around? How do they intend to commemorate the anniversary of the Superga Tragedy next year - in many worse a worse disaster for football than Munich.

Fayed wasn't there, but Diana had a good game. Hodgson was a miserable git afterwards saying he was unhappy as he thought Fulham deserved to win. The finishing was frankly weak. Pantsil did well in the first half. Stoor came on at half time. Zamora led the line well and Seol looked pretty good. Fulham looked pretty good in the first half. Torino's fans were louder and more passionate even when losing 2-0. I thought the Italians were technically better and their skill levels was superior, but not delivered often enough. Both sides need to find their shooting boots if they want to make progress.

Brede Hangeland was immense in Fulham's defence. Just before Zoltan Gera's cross found Seol in space to score Malonga rounded Schwarzer who had rushed out of his area and passed it into an empty net, but Hangeland got back to make a brilliant block.

Finishing remained profligate from both sides. A lovely move was capped of with a telling pass from Eugenio Corini to Elvis Abbruschato - yes that is his name - and he finished beautifully with ten minutes later. Torino continued to press and a horrible clearance from Hughes I think found Angelo Ogbonna in space in the are and his shot looped over Schwarzer for a draw. Fulham must learn to defend a lead if they want to push on this year. Anyone else who was there add your opinions.

Nope you pretty much said it all. <Ale>

Fulham were very impressive, by that performance they should stay up.

My brother and I sat with some Torino fans and they were Immense, chanting throughout the whole game.

Torino fans >>> Juventus fans. Of course, I already knew that didn't I.

Anyway, it was a good match with a good turn out. A little disappointed that Torino didn't take it too seriously, they tried to make that extra pass or try and do something silky when the simple shot was on.

GK - Schwarzer; DF - Pantsil, Hughes, Hangeland, Konchesky. I think that's decent, and might be what keeps them up. I always liked Pantsil, hard worker.

Do you know what their banner said? It was taken down too quickly. They have impressive fans though. Intend to go to Torino next season - end of April to early May to pay tribute to a truly great team. Did you know that Il Grande Torino once had ten outfield players play in the same international match for Italy. The keeper was given match off - ironically Juve's keeper played. I think it was against Hungary and ended 3-2. What a team they were and what might have been in 1950, but for Superga.
