Chelsea Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Deco from FC Barcelona.
The Portuguese midfielder becomes our first signing under Luiz Felipe Scolari since the Brazilian's appointment as manager on June 11.
Deco, who won the Champions League and UEFA Cup with FC Porto, spoke to Chelsea TV after officially signing and said: 'It is good for me to be here and first of all I am very happy to be here.'
The former Barcelona player has further Champions League success as one of his main ambitions with Chelsea and, after playing in Euro 2008 alongside a strong Chelsea contingent, now feels the time was right to join his former national coach in west London.
'I am sure I have come at the right time to do great things and be able to help Chelsea go back to the way it was and come back to being the first one, not only in England but also to win the Champions League that has been their dream for so long.

'The Premier League is a great league and it is getting better and you can see that with the Champions League Final, where you had two English teams.

10m euros, that's reasonable i guess. Good move for all sides...I think he'll be a success and a midfield of Essien-Ballack-Deco plus one more (Scolari will play 4-4-2 IMO) is definitely mouth-watering.

You don't know these guys. I believe Quaresma is at Inter when I see him playing there officially. These guys already knew about Deco 24 hrs before any news reported it.

Good signing but it means Lampard is leaving. The swap of Deco for Lampard will be a positive on for the champs but might not be as positive in the EPL. Dont get me wrong i think Deco is better than Lampard but i just think Lampard is very suited to the EPL and provides the goals from midfield. Saying that with Ballack coming up with the goods maybe they wont miss him too much in the EPL either.
Anyway overall Deco is a very good buy. So does that make it 4 of Portugal starting Xl in the Chelsea team now ?

Why would they feel the need to check with CNN, when they know the story days before CNN gets it!

I will wait to see how this turns out. Deco played quite well for Portugal at the euros but he still isnt on the level he used to be and last 2 seasons for Barca has been Cr@p. hope Scolari gets the best out of him.
