I think Barry may end up at Pool (sorry Villa fans), but I don't think Ronaldo will move until next season

If Real sign VDV on Monday then will that put a end to Ronaldo to Real Madrid for this summer?

yeah I think Barry will go to Liverpool (sorry Pool fans) but the Ronaldo deal wont be sorted out in this window. But I can see him boycotting CL games in order to engineer a move in January, or even refuse to play at all saying he is 'injured'

I think Barry's all but gone now. I don't think O'Neill would've come out with that statement today, after what happened midweek, if he was at all likely to stay.Historicus wrote:Neither of them will move.
I kinda worry for Barry at Pool. All the fans seem set up to dislike him already, because he's not Spanish, and I could see him becoming a hate figure soon enough, if they go through a bad patch.

Re: Summer Transfer Sagas
O'Neill taught himself a harsh lesson about ultimatums this week, and what happens when you mess with the big boys. But like the Ronaldo case, Liverpool are being painted as the bad guys, when infact it's the player who wants to leave and the interested club are just saying, 'yeah - we're interested, we'll have him if you're selling'. It's not a case of 'yeah we want him and we'll pay over the odds for him'
Fergie saying he'll quit if Ronaldo's sold is just as hollow a declaration as O'Neill saying that Liverpool had missed a deadline and would not be signing Barry. We'll find out the day Ronaldo is sold how big Fergie's balls are.

I think that was a ploy by O'Neil/Villa to make Liverpool pay even more money to sign Barry or to make Barry request a transfer so Villa don't have to pay him any loyalty bonus.

Re: Summer Transfer Sagas
Well the fuzzy thing about the Barry deadline is that it was apparently he and his agent who suggested it. I suppose Barry is getting sick of being left in limbo - which is partly both club's fault. But so long as Villa get near enough the price they were asking, O'Neill is reasonably justified in his stance. I won't claim he played it all right - the statement from midweek looks incredibly naive and hollow after what he's said today - but he's not let Liverpool just play the 'unsettle the player and sign on the cheap' game they were trying.Glenn Hysén wrote:O'Neill taught himself a harsh lesson about ultimatums this week, and what happens when you mess with the big boys. On the cheap? Whatever Liverpool end up paying it wont be cheap, and whatever it is it will never be enough for O'Neill. At the time when Barry joined 10 years ago you could probably buy Aston Villa for less that the fee being demanded for the player.

I don't tbh, don't think Wenger would see Barry as an Arsenal-type player, however useful he would be (given their current CM options). I think he'll be in Liverpool colours this time next week.Ade wrote:Aresnal could* still sign Barry if you believe reports..

Re: Summer Transfer Sagas
SSN's response to the Barry saga will be most interesting, I'd fully expect most of the pundits to write off Liverpool doing anything above 4th, so they should all be deploring the idea of purchasing Barry, but you can just about guarantee most will support the transfer.
The lack of recent transfer news about Alonso should be the most revealing about the state of the transfer saga, so I'll cling on to the idea of no progress being made at such an extreme price, whether it's justified or not.

Re: Summer Transfer Sagas
Ronaldo Stays At Manchester
Manchester United Star Cristiano Ronaldo has put an end to all speculation concerning a move to Real Madrid by pledging his future to the Red Devils.
The Portugal international's future has been the subject of intense speculation for most of the summer after voicing his desire for a transfer to Real Madrid.
Real Madrid president Ramón Calderón has made no secret of his wish to sign Ronaldo, having stated to the press that the ex-Sporting man would be a welcome addition at Santiago Bernabéu.
But Ronaldo has now guaranteed that he will stay at Old Trafford at least one more season, thus confirming Sir Alex Ferguson's allegations in which he stressed this to be a "closed case".
"Ferguson heard my arguments, I heard his and, in fact, it was settled that the best for both parties would be for me to stay. Therefore, I can confirm that, next season, I will play for Manchester United," he told Publico.
"And, before rumours emerge saying that I will play against my will, I want to make this clear: whoever says or writes that is lying. I will play for Manchester with all my heart and soul. I will fight and honour that shirt with the same commitment and dedication as always."
Ronaldo has also taken the blame for this transfer saga, which lasted for several months and damaged Manchester United's relationship with Real Madrid.
"I want to assume that I was the big responsible for all this controversy," Ronaldo added. "It was not their fault because I was the one who publically expressed my desire to go to Real Madrid. I ended up being, even involuntarily, the responsible for the poor relationship between the two clubs."
He further added that his dream of playing for the Merengues is real and does not close the door on a future move to Santiago Bernabéu.
"I knew that Real Madrid were interested in signing me and that they had allegedly made a very high offer to Manchester United. My desire was, for some time, that Manchester had accepted my transfer to Madrid. Saying otherwise would be to trick people and my own consciousness," he noted.
The complete interview with Cristiano Ronaldo will be released tomorrow.

Real were reluctant to pay the £100M + Ramos and Casillas, so of course Man United was not going to sell.
Marca's operation ‘CR7’ has ended in failure, Laporta >> Calderon as well.

It will end in ultimate success (or already has ended in success if you ask real fans) with ronaldo signing as soon as the season is over

In truth Real don’t even need him, Calderon the fool only wanted him to sell shirts and appease the socios who elect him, majority of Real fans see a possible signing as doom, wonder how much he (Calderon) paid the likes of Pepe, Raul and Guti to endorse the possible signing, egg on his face. This is the best news for the Real Madrid fans. Ronaldo will play for them in the future so that is no problem; he should give 100% to his current team next season.

Fergie on SSN now saying Ronaldo was only tempted by the move to Madrid cos of the money and its been hrd for Ronaldo cos his father died.
WTF - why cant be just realised he wants to go to Real cos of the glamour and prestige of the club. Also what the f@ck does Ronaldo's father dying have anything to do with the move.
