Why are Germany playing a useless friendly v Belgium, who have nearly their entire A-team unavailable? (was known they would be at the Olympics) Could as well have scheduled a match v the Fiji Islands. Guess a confidence boost was needed.... Or is it for the easy FIFA World Ranking points...

Belgium shouldn't play Kompany as a protest.

Having said that think the Belgian FA made a major mistake not giving full backing to manager De Sart & Kompany. Actually if I would be Kompany, I would tell the Belgium FA I'm not available for this useless match.

5 players have pulled out of the squad. How can Burley build his team for the WC qualifiers when players keep on pulling out. Mad

It is, because Luxemburg was not available.

Vincent wasn't even called up for the match.
The reasons? I don't know. Probably because he criticised the Belgian FA in the German press. *shrugs*

You need to be half-decent at least, to get a close result in Holland, like Luxemburg. And Belgium is not worse than Luxemburg. So it will be a good test.

Belgiums Olympic team wouldn´t be a real challenge for the Mannschaft, as they lost against our U21´s in February. And I consider our first team to be stronger than our U21s, despite the evident and well known "conveyor belt effect".

First of all The Olympic team is for U23s. Furthermore all key players of the Belgian full team, are currently involved at the Olympics.

The Belgium squad your u21s beat 2-1 was no way near their Olympic team (only 4 players from thire starting line-up).

Most people from Belgium rate their Olympic team higher than their full team. So their full team minus the players at the Oympics is a pile of trash.

Koller doesn't seem interested in the national team any more. Can't blame him for wanting final payday in Russia really. Also can't blame Czechs for wanting him. Difficult to replace if you want to play style that suits him - not many players that size to aim for. Sounded like Rosicky had quit too. Galasek has gone too. Ujfalusi hopes they can persuade both to return though.

This Irish game is a waste of time, the pitch is so waterlogged, they can barely pass or run with the ball without it holding up.

I must say, that looks like an awful formation if they play like that. Is it not more likely to see Barry on the left? Not too keen on the front pairing either, but there isn't much choice there so can't really complain about that.

Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Barry in midfield for this game. Under his own system Capello must want to see for himself can he make them play. Defoe and Rooney up from see how they work out.
