Someone should next time..I understand he didnt want to look like a bottler after missing the last one..but we've got Alves and Aliadiere who was a striker on the pitch..you'd think one of them would be taking it.

Two goals for Chopra! He is a good goalscorer - I'd fancy him, if given the same amount of playing time throughout the season, to score more goals than Cisse or Jones. He and Jones could form a good partnership if they're given time together when the latter is back from injury.

    Newcastle today:

    Given

    Edgar Taylor Coloccini N'Zogbia

    Geremi Cacapa Butt Duff

    Owen Xisco

Subs: Harper, Bassong, Tozer, Gonzalez, Doninger, Ameobi, Donaldson

The midfield looks pretty abysmal - it will probably lack any sort of pace and creativity. We probably need Duff to perform and N'Zogbia to use his pace to attack and overlap well. Owen and Xisco will need to work hard - Xisco will need to be more lively and potent up front, and Owen may need to drop a little at times if we are going to have any creativity in the centre of the pitch.

    1502: DISALLOWED GOAL
Confusion at Anfield. Steven Gerrard thinks he has scored his 100th goal with a direct free-kick that eluded everybody but the goal is ruled out for offside

    Confused indeed

Di Michele went past a few of our defenders a bit too easily, and his shot deflected off Edgar and looped over Given into the net. We look very flat footed, and we are standing off West Ham's runners too much.
