Big big win for Juve. Real just not doing well against Italian teams of late. Also, Juve seem to hit their stride whenever they play them. A team that is doing really well in Spain versus a team that is stinking it up in Italy, and the latter wins. Strange.
Fiorentina can wave goodbye to the CL.

Same old story. We outplay Juve but they beat us anyway due to some defensive presents. We have no excuse though. They had several injuries and that idiot Schuster gave them the game.
The irony is that we did the rest of the Italian league a favor because that loser Ranieri will remain as coach, so Juve have no chance to win anything this year. I saw a very mediocre team today, but we suck even more for not managing to beat them.

Fiorentina have to win their next 3 games to realistically go through. Its possible since 2 of them are at home while the other one is away to Steau which is winnable. Looks tough though and im sure they'll look back on the game at Lyon with deep regret.

We started well, but then Fiorentina had a number of chances they didn't make use of. In the last half hour we were in control again and had numerous chances for that 3rd goal which we finally scored in the last minute.
It was a step in the right direction, but there's still a lot of improvement necessary. Especially defensively.
In all fairness, the scoreline is a bit harsh on Fiorentina. However, all in all we do deserve the three points.

It seems in Turin, Juve know how to beat you guys. In 2003, for example, I don't think you outplayed Juve (in the first leg you did). Similarly, in 2005, it was the same. Weird. Then there is Roma also, who you should beat no questions asked. It seems strange because Real have more quality than both. But maybe they need some

We had a decent record in Italy during the galatico period but since '03 it's been nothing but bad results. Trips to Italy are getting to be just as bad as trips to Germany.

In 2003 (first leg), Real dominated for the first half hour or so. After that Juve came back into it and i felt they were better in the 2nd half.

We've always been the best team over two legs. The difference has been our incredible inefficiency in front of goal and horrible mistakes by the likes of Raul Bravo and Heinze. But being the better team just doesn't do it in football as we're all aware.
Today it was more than that though. It was Schuster's joke of a lineup that lost us the game. His substitutions were also terrible, taking out Higuain and VDV while leaving in Raul.

Mutu and Gila had some decent chances which they should've taken. Vargas was at fault for both goals i felt. We knew he was great going forward, but i guess defensively, he still has alot to learn. Ze Roberto's goal was nice.
BTW, how is Oddo doing? Is his crossing any good?

36 goals tonight! Not a new record since there was in 2000 also a 36 goals night.

I think Oddo has quickly become a key player. Both because of his ability and experience. His crosses are often dangerous and have become a good weapon. He also knows how to find Klose and has provided a couple of assists for him.
Good man.

Thats very good to hear. Last season, his crossing was very inaccurate and ended up in the stands most of the time. That was probably part of the reason he lost his place for Euro 2008. Before that, his crossing was always pinpoint, which would obviously suit Bayern when they have 2 strikers like Toni and Klose. He had knee meniscus surgery at the end of last season and it looks like that's helped him. Hopefully he gets a recall to the NT.

A great player but a good goal scoring record in the CL is not worth teh paper its written on.
Its why I'm suprised people like Agooner think I'm stupid for paying closer attention to KO phases.
Simone Inzaghi once scored 4 in a champions league game and that's all you need to know really.

Weird the Italian press does not seem to think so. I thought it was just a season long loan:
No nostalgia for Oddo
Monday 20 October, 2008
Milan-owned defender Massimo Oddo doesn't feel homesick as he prepares to face Fiorentina for Bayern Munich.
Oddo was adjudged to be surplus to requirements at San Siro this summer and was sent to Bayern on a season loan.
But the Azzurri stopper will face some familiar faces at the Allianz Arena tomorrow evening.

Anyone think the EPL clubs may go unbeaten in the group stages?
It wouldn't surprise me.
Roma will probably get demolished tomorrow, and Liverpool will probably topple Atletico.

I doubt it, should the clubs qualify early, they'll send out weaker starting x11 to rest the players for the league, which could then result in possibly loseing games, particularly if they are away games.
