France and italy to go through.

It still early days to say who will top the group between those two. France have had a good start but makelele might retire, vieira might get injured and i think that will seriuosly affect them especially in the case of vieira who i think they don't have a ready made replacement for.

He maybe not a ready made replacement but Rio Mavuba has been good everytime I seem him in a French shirt. Also Lassana Diarra impressed my greatly in the U21 Championships this summer, if he got regular first team football he could easily be the next Makelele. I don't think Alou Diarra and Mattheu Bodmer are real International quality though.

Remember Diaby is the next Vieira too. Wink

yeah hopefully he'll turn out just as good or even better Very Happy .

Mavuba is a good player but he is very different from vieira. I would say he is very similar to maka, far more so than lansana diarra: small, good on the ball, sit in front of the defence and intercepts alot. I have seen him twice for france; he was shocking in the first and excellent in the other.

France have got a lot of very talented midfielders but i don't any of them is "ripe" enough to replace vieira well. Toulalan( for me their best young midfielder) and bodmer might though after this season. Alou diarra should not be considered as his replacement as he isn't that good offensively.
