United shouldn't really be in the title race - they would be miles off if it wasn't for the joke pen v Bolton, the assault on the keeper at Blackburn and Vidic professional foul at Villa Park but they are right in the mix.

Liverpool went rubbish after the red card. Babel is rubbish £10m wtf. Riera wasn't all that either. Bringing on Ngog just shows how bad a decision it was to sell Crouch. I liked Insua though very good.
Arsenal could have won this in the second half after the red that was how bad Liverpool were. But apart from the goal they didn't create much before the red.
Vicious seems harsh It was extremely clumsy and dangerous but I dont think he went to hurt him. Hodgson seemed to think so too..definitely a red card though.

We had according to sky 70 % of possession in the second half before the sending off disrupted our rhythm and over twice as many shots as arsenal yet amazingly you choose to call us the negative team
Passing in triangles, going nowhere,at walking pace.
I repeat
We had more chances and more possession than arsenal so why the hell are you singling us out instead of arsenal ? Arsenal were the home team remember
Arsenal were very ordinary today, after the red,Arsenal were more positive
than Liverpool.Poor from a team hoping to be champions
Do you think Man United create thousands of chances away from home against the top sides. Do you think Chelsea create thousands of chances away from home against the top sides .. etc etc
We didn't cope well with arsenal and the crowd being fired up when previously we were the only team in it.
Rafa made three attacking subs to try and win it and in the last ten minutes we were the only side attacking
Yet incredibly you choose to say we did not try to win it instead of just pointing out that we struggled after the sending off
I think a team with serious ambition to win the game should actually make the team with 10 men struggle, not the other way around.Liverpool played the second half at walking pace most of the time, hardly the tactic to use to break down 10 men.Liverpool passing was awful, apart from the 3 yard triangles they continually played in their own half,of which there was a lot of,hence the negative accusation.

In a perfect world this happens, however anyone who has watched football knows the opposite can occur for the reasons already pointed out in this thread and FG actually predicted it would harm us as soon as the red card came out
Do you think it is easy to beat arsenal at the emirates Briz ?
I can assure you it isn't
When a team comes away having as much as the game as we did and having the better chances throughout the match it is ridiculous to call them negative, whilst ignoring the team who created less chances.
However it hardly surprises me to read these comments

At least we wouldn't have an English referee when we face them in Champions league!
No way was that a yellow or a sending off. A fluke long ball, and a lucky goal aside, liv didn't really "dominate" arse, but responded well after being 1-0 down. Liverpool looked toothless against 10 men. I have to say they didn't break down the opposition even when it was 11 vs 11, but liv were impressive with their workrate, and tactical discipline. They covered with 10 men behind the ball when they lost possession, though one would say that is negative.

Perhaps I expect a lot more from a team who are possible PL champions than you do.I was not impressed with their performance today, just as I wasn't with Arsenal today, and in other games too,or Man Utd.Chelsea are slightly the best of a poor group of potential champions, and I would not be surprised to see the lot of them kicked out in the next round of CL.

Re: Premier League Discussion 20th-22nd Dec
Disappointed with our performance for most of the game, although we coped well with 10 men. We didn't create enough and weren't sharp enough. Liverpool's lack of ambition to attack against 10 men was a bit pathetic, but they played well before that and were the better side. Howard Webb is a complete and utter tosser, so no surprise to see him making a negative impact again. Very harsh red card, and I think it's safe to say if Gerrard had made those two challenges he wouldn't have seen red for it. Such inconsistency again, how some players can make cynical fouls for the entire game and get away with it, and someone can make two fouls like Adebayor's and be shown a red card.
Awful defending for their goal, although it's typical that the £20m failure decides to save his first moment of class for Liverpool for this game, and our goal was fantastic. Really classy control and finish from Van Persie. With Fabregas and Adebayor out now we could be in serious trouble if we lose to Villa. Minus Fabregas our midfield looks useless, especially if Nasri picks up another injury. Not a good day for Arsenal at all.

Fabregas set for injury lay-off
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger fears he could be without captain Cesc Fabregas for up to three weeks after he picked up a knee injury against Liverpool.
Fabregas hobbled off the pitch on the stroke of half-time after a full-blooded challenge with Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.
"It's a medial knee ligament injury, (but) I don't know how long he will be out," said Wenger.
"It's difficult to assess - it could be one week or three weeks."

I'll never understand why we have such a poor record against them. I knew we weren't going to get anything out of this game. We'll still probably end up finishing above them in the table. Just hope we can get some revenge at WHL.

Re: Premier League Discussion 20th-22nd Dec
I went to the Newcastle vs. Tottenham game yesterday, and it was a decent match to be at - the first half was lively, the second was pretty much dead in comparison, and both sides looked content enough with a draw for most of the half, but it was wonderful to snatch a late win. I don't think our luck really turned yesterday, because we haven't been unfortunate in conceding late goals against Wigan and Stoke - rather, we've sat back and waited for the inevitable equalisers to come.
In the same sort of vein, we weren't particularly lucky with our late goal yesterday. It was a very even match. In the first half, we had a spell after scoring our first where we passed the ball around sharply and looked very good; Tottenham then came back into the game, and for a period they were really camped in our half, with their defence sitting on the half-way line. N'Zogbia bustled inside the Tottenham area a few times, whilst Lennon was getting behind our defence and Modric was drifting to good effect. In the second half, Tottenham sat back and then sat back a bit more - we had more of the ball, but we did nothing with it - then Tottenham started to come at us in the last ten minutes and Campbell almost got on the end of a few balls.
A draw would perhaps have been the fairest result, but if anything distinguished the teams it was that Tottenham cheated more than we did. Huddlestone had his dive, Lennon moaned a lot in the first half, and Modric, who I really like as a player, who had a good game yesterday, who had been a perfect gentleman all match, then decided to get Gutierrez booked late on by feigning injury (and this was after the pair had been chatting and slapping hands all game; and it was just moments after a foul on Gutierrez that did warrant a yellow card). And we took our late goal really well - Viduka did very little when he came on, but his back-heel pass was superb, and Duff finished really cleverly.
N'Zogbia and Beye were our best players. I actually thought that both of our wingers looked a little leaden, but N'Zogbia managed to use his strength to create chances down the left, whilst Bentley and Ekotto shackled Gutierrez really effectively down the right. Guthrie had another decent game in the centre, and created two good opportunities, one for Butt and one for Owen, but they were too slow to take them. Enrique had an okay game - Lennon got behind him a number of times, but Enrique also won a few battles against him, and he was very unfortunate to get booked early on for falling over straining to catch up with Lennon. Bassong was very solid at the back.
I thought Modric was Tottenham's best player, he's very tidy and intelligent, and drifted left and caused us a few problems as the game wore on. I do still think that Arshavin would suit Tottenham - Modric is good at maintaining possession and creating from a little deeper, and I wouldn't give up on the idea of playing him alongside a destroyer in the centre of midfield, whilst Arshavin could really push up and make runs ahead of Pavlyuchenko, which is something nobody really did yesterday. Lennon had a good first half, Zokora was very energetic in the centre, and I was very impressed with Ekotto at left back - he was very composed defensively and seemed to have good technique. We were getting between King and Dawson pretty easily early on and were causing them problems; they lack pace and our first goal really came because they panicked and N'Zogbia persisted; but that stopped as we tired and once Shola went off. Viduka and Owen must comprise the most static front line in the league.
