    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So after the underwhelming start to the Premier League, there's some extremely delicious games in this weekend's fixtures.

Sunderland take on Olympique Castle and Joey Barton needs to keep his head because the likes of Gyan and Sessegnon are big boys that wont stand any shit:

Premier League Week 2 Discussion 20/21/22nd of August 2011 PA-11389525

Arsenal vs Liverpool will be a real test of Wenger's metal, I hope he looks like this after the match:

Premier League Week 2 Discussion 20/21/22nd of August 2011 46ea8_c3c69__54587443_wenger

Although that doesn't necessarily mean Arsenal will have lost the game.

Sergio Aguero FC look set for world domination but face a tricky game vs top of the league Bolton. If they fail to take all 3 points then expect the signings of Fernando Torres, Ronaldo, Kaka and Shola Ameobi in before the end of next week.

Spuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurs finally get underway on monday night but will find it tough to contain the new posterity - Tom Cleverly, Daniel Welbeck et al. You don't win anything with kids? tell that to Mr Ferguson. Robbie Keane will not be of service after his dream move to the USA, he was an avid Galaxy fan when he was a kid, as well as a Liverpool fan and a Leeds fan.

I feel this is going to be a special weekend of football; Batman will catch the higlights on MOTD if his arranged wife is asleep, Dickanio will enjoy all the free booze and attractive women he can get in one of London's up-market clubs and lrd will ask his prison-warden what the United score is every 5 minutes.

    Soccer cheers

    I agree.

I've got nothing against Hendo but Meireles is pure class and HAS to start, even if it's at the expense of Charlston Adam.

Due to injuries, suspensions, player sales, and Wenger's failure to sign replacements with just 12 days left in the transfer window, Arsenal's lineup is going to be a default one, considering they have no other first team players left:

    Szczesny
    Sagna, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Jenkinson
    Walcott, Frimpong, Ramsey, Arshavin
    Van Persie, Chamakh

Bench will feature Squillaci, Oxlade-Chamberlain, possibly Bentdner, and then a bunch of kids from the academy Laughing

    Looks pretty good to me.

Why hasn't Lansbury been given a look in in the last two games? Suprised he hasn't made the bench.

Villa-Blackburn..not a particularly big game in general terms, but a big game for McLeish. Needs to start off well at Villa Park & this is in some ways an ideal fixture - but there is perhaps the added pressure that it is one he will be expected to win. We seem to have pretty strong hoodoo over Blackburn (played them roughly 1 billion times in the last few years thanks to drawing them in every single cup match possible).

Hopefully see a more balanced lineup than the one at Fulham - not trying to fit Bent, Gabby and Heskey all into the team as it just doesn't work.

    Maybe a straight 442:

    Albrighton-Petrov-Delph-Zog
    Gabby/Heskey-Bent

or bring in Ireland/Bannan in more of a 433/451:

    Petrov-Makoun-Bannan
    Gabby-Bent-Zog

I'd probably prefer the latter. Albrighton's not been in great form and I'm never that confident with any combo of 2 CMs. We lack a proper DM to play alongside Makoun/Petrov/Delph. Petrov sits back but hasn't got the energy/pace to be always breaking up play or winning the ball back.

Yep, I hope so too. He looked pretty good in first half against Fulham, but faded (along with whole team). That big injury ended up writing off last season almost completely, so this is a fresh start really, hopefully it has no long term effects on his game.

He should get plenty of game time, given the squad is fairly limited in depth.

There were rumours of an enquiry from Blackburn but nothing concrete.

According to the official website; Gibbs is out, Rosicky & Traore are doubts, but Djourou has a chance to feature tomorrow.

On the subject of injuries, Cech is ruled out for a month after suffering a medial knee ligament injury in training.

I think it's just mind games from Wenger. Nasri quite clearly is hated by the majority of Arsenal fans, Wenger throwing him into this game when he will be unveiled at City on tuesday claiming he was a City fan from birth and that he didn't move for money would be pretty silly and would only dig his grave even deeper if he put in a half-assed performance.

I'm feeling quite confident for tomorrow but we haven't won away at Arsenal in God knows how long so I envisage a draw and probably a red card for Nasri.

I thought Lansbury wanted to go back on loan to Norwich. I don't think Nasri will play, it'll be hard enough playing Liverpool without the inevitable nonsense which will ensue. I want Bentdner to start though. Would be grateful for a point.

    Szczcny

Sagna - Kos - Djourou - Verm (Jenkinson must NOT start, not against Johnson, Kuyt and Suarez, and Arshavin in front of him)

    Frimpong - Ramsey - Arshavin

    Walcott - Bentdner

The Reds team in full is: Reina, Kelly, Enrique, Agger, Carragher, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Kuyt.

Subs: Doni, Flanagan, Skrtel, Meireles, Spearing, Suarez, Maxi.

Shocking that Suarez is on the bench, as is Raul. Not happy at all with that.

It's clear the Meireles doesn't fit into Dalglish's aerial bombardment tactics, something that will (rightly) be emphasized even more against opposition like Arsenal. That's probably why Suarez isn't starting either (combined with him being behind everyone else in terms of pre-season fitness).
