That is exactly the quality i have always talked about with Woodgate. that he makes his team mates better which is the best quality for a leader and leader in defence.i never saw him in England or least not enough. only remember that he was a great talent for Newcastle in FM. followed him a bit in Middlesborough and typically he didn't really get injuried. had he been injury free he would still been Real, no doubt about it. He had everything for me , Pepe got all the physical attributes but I dont think he can read the game as good as Woody and is more rash and more immature.
I am sorry but I think while Pepe can be a great defender, he isnt that at the moment for me atleast.
Few defenders have that ability to actually make your partner look a very good defender (Rio made Tweety a very good CB before he got banned) and Woodgate has had that in abundance.The rash Sergio Ramos looked a very good CB at his time, even now if you play Ramos in there, even with Pepe I doubt Pepe would have that effect on a more mature Ramos.
I really rate Woodgate very high, injuries havent done him justice at all.
Regarding Pepe it is true he can be to rash at times but it doesn't happen alot and it is something that is really needed in Spain because often you are left on your own so many times you have to go all in and try and get the ball. Imo he does improve defence with his mere presence and the fact that once he returned our defence stopped leaking goals. in the last games since he was back we haven't conceeded. on talent he is one of the best out there but you have to be stable and injuries ruin that so he will need to go for a longer time before he is proven.

Woody is as soft as shit - he got battered by Henderson when we beat 'boro for our 1st prem victory .
He is a nancy boy paki-basher.
Only Huth and Onyewu gave as good as they got v Hendo in our Prem season.
