Wenger is taking ages to sign Arshavin. What I don't get is that we're not trying to sign Tymoschuk (who still hasn't finalised his Bayern deal). I do rate Arshavin, but think we need a serious DMF FAR more. Your thoughts?

Arsenal should go for De Zeeuw, I think he's tailor made for them...

Tymoschuk without question. The only problem is that Zenit are not going to sell a player they bought for big money only 18 months ago.
In terms of a priority for Arsenal I would say: DM > CB > AML/R

De Zeeuw doesn't play for Zenit (I mean if you're scouting/ closely following Arshavin, how can you miss Tymoschuk?).
They're different, rate them both very high. De Zeeuw would be an improvement on Flamini (same kind of player); Tymoschuk is a more similar to Vieira.
We can do with a DMF who's captain material & a good header. Tymoschuk would also imrpove our set piece defending.
I would be happy with Tymoschuk or De Zeeuw.

I dont rate Tymo that high to be honest, I dont think he really have a great positioning sense, more bruiser type of player.

First time I've heard that, how much will they pay for him?
Would De Jong have been a good signing for Arsenal? On here all we hear about is De Zeeuw from the Dutchies.

De Zeeuw is one of Axe' love childs. He wouldn't cut it at Arsenal. Subtop EPL is his level.

Exactly, how do you know De Zeeuw won't turn out like Alfonso Alves - the next Rivaldo.

Dunno about De Jong. He had a good period in the Bundesliga lately. But when it comes to intelligent movement, passing, postional game, etc. De Zeeuw >>> De Jong.Cesc Soler (c) wrote:First time I've heard that, how much will they pay for him?

Don't know what Bayern are offering Zenit, maybe Effe knows, I'll ask him.
@parky
so you can't sign players from the Dutch league? With that logic you can't sign any player, because each league produced it's failures when it comes to settling in the EPL. Better use common sense / properly judge a player.

Arsenal's main problems are defending in the air and lack of tactical variation going forward.
Adding a DM would at least give them the option of just overloading the box. As it is you've got four playmakers all looking for someone else to make the runs and short of Van Persie taking it past people or lobbing it into Adebayor's head there's not much of a plan B.

Never said you can't buy from the Dutch league. Some have been a great success - Ruud, Stam etc.

Think that a lot of Dutch players would get a lower rating on average from Dutch posters than from non-Dutch over here. Just because a few sometimes rate a player higher, might actually because be because they know him very well.

I actually say Arshavin...he would be the first proper replacement they'll have for Pires - a goalscoring wide player who is also versatile, and has flair, skill and a burst of pace to go past a man. Walcott isn't good enough to be a starter yet, and let's not bother with Rosicky.

Arshavin without a doubt.
Anyone who has followed during the course of the season must have seen that we've struggled the most against lesser teams(that park the bus), that's because we lack of creativity(when teams play deep, compact and invite us to break them down) and inability to keep the ball for long. And given the fact more than 80% of teams we face in the league employ that tactics, we should prioritise adding more creativity to the side.
Yes we've struggled defensively this season but that's mostly down to cock ups at the back, no defensive midfielder in the world could solve that - see how poor we were defensively from January top may 2008 despite having 2 good an experienced DM(Flamini, Gilberto) when our defenders started committing similar mistakes as they are doing at present. We could still do with an experienced midfielder though, but that shouldn't be at the top of our list IMO.
Apart from the need of signings, what we need is a stable team. We've looked more like a football team and solid over the past few weeks coz we have virtually been playing the same personnel. Our once porous midfield is now compact as we press and close opponents better than we did at the start of the season, we have been seeing some flashes of good football every now and then, and with confidence returning and the possible addition of a creative player, It won't be that long before we see a free flowing Arsenal team.

Could also just be that Dutchies have overrated a few players..
Alves the new Rivaldo..
Kuyt was meant to be amazing..
Gomes supposedly one of the best keepers in the world.
Alex should be starting for Chelsea..(fair enough he's good, but still)

De Zeeuw is a good player but hugely overrated here. He wasn't even a guaranteed starter for AZ at one point last season, and he is almost 26.

De Zeeuw had a poor spell last season, because he wanted to leave the club & was refused to do so. At the moment he's playing at his usual best again. The Professor wrote:De Zeeuw is a good player but hugely overrated here. What's your judgement of De Zeeuw based on?

Huntelaar, Babel, ... are all rated less by Dutchies than by the average poster on here

Its probably the extent of the overratedness.
Saying Alves is a really good player and will do well in the EPL probably would be fair enough.."Alves is the new Rivaldo" though, mental. Good as he is.

Well I rated Alves, but not as the new Rivaldo. If I take the most extreme judgement of any English poster on any English player....borocooper wrote:De Guzman wrote:Just because we overrated a few, doesn't mean we overrate on average.borocooper wrote:De Guzman wrote:Think that a lot of Dutch players would get a lower rating on average from Dutch posters than from non-Dutch over here.
