Meanwhile, both the Hammers and Juventus have quashed speculation that Carlton Cole could be about to move from east London to Turin. (BBC)

Bad timing with that last sentence given he's just scored in 5 straight games.

Also bad timing that I was home to see it. If you watched any games he has played in this season, you'd realise what an idiot you are.

He seems like a confidence player.
SSN had a stat where he's scored 5 goals in 5 games. But Prior to that had scored 1 goal in 9 games.

I'm sure he's on about 9 goals and 5 assists for the season. I think the season before he ended up with about 7 goals and 10 assists.

So 16 goals and 15 assists in the past season and a half...nice work I say!

Carlton Cole is obviously underrated by many. He fits well in the West Ham set up and he gets confidence by Zola he hasn't getting anywhere before in his career.

I do hope Parks is joking with that said.

Actually Carlton Cole was very highly rated youth player, very good scoring rate he had, then the cash hit Chelsea and he is on the move since, settled at Hammers and with a good coach, can he rediscover that potential ? difficult but not impossible.
Certainly can be a very good premier league player if he can find the net more often.

Definitely a confidence player. He was known as Can't Control when he played for Villa - and he was poor for us. But he was the only fit striker for chunks of the season and there was therefore lots of pressure on him to score - which only got worse as he failed to do so.

At other clubs, and possibly at West Ham originally, he was in and out of the team (would he have been getting in the team this season if Bellamy and Ashton were both fit from the start?). But maybe now he is finally playing happy and confidently in a system that suits and secure of his place in the team. I have to say, I've warmed to him ever since he started scoring me lots of FF points Wink
