Coppa Italia 2008-09 Empty Coppa Italia 2008-09

Post by bluenine Fri Feb 06, 2009 2:32 pm

    Quarter Final results:
    Inter 2-1 Roma
Sampdoria 1-1 Udinese (Sampdoria win 4-1 on pens.)
    Lazio 3-1 Torino
Juventus 0-0 Napoli (4-3 on pens)

So we will have a different final this year... last 4 years, the final has been between Inter and Roma, twice won by both sides. This season, Inter met Roma in the quarters and knocked them out. The Semi Final draw looks like this:

    Inter vs Sampdoria
    Juventus vs Lazio

In this new format, the semis are 2 leg affairs, first one on 4Mar, second one on 22 Apr. There is a good chance that we may have a Derby d'italia in the final!!! Tho I rather Lazio make it, that ways they can qualify for the UEFA Cup.

    FT: Lazio 2-1 Juventus

Marchioso opened the scoring, but Lazio staged a second half comeback via Pandev and Rocchi goals... its interestingly poised, as Juve have got their away gaol...

We have the weekend game & then the CL round next mid-week. I don't understand what Ranieri was doing fielding a full strength side for this game. We already had our share of injuries this season. Tinkerman baffles me at times

Same here, it even worse for Inter... coz we have such quality back ups, if they can't even be trusted for Coppa, then why the hell do we need them??

I am shocked to see Adriano, Stankovic, Maicon, & Cambiassso travelling for this game. They need rest, and this was a perfect opportunity to do so.

At least Mou had the sense to rest Cesar and Ibra.

Our reserve side that was fielded today is still worth more than twice of Doria's first team... they were good enough to win this, there can be no excuses on our part.

Mourinho has a few failings... he just does not understand how to rotate the squad. Mancio did that so well, and we have a squad with a similar replacement for every player. All you have to do is keep the formation, change the personnel. But no, Mou decides that he will start 3 CB's, 2 fullbacks, and a winger??????????????? Idiot!!!

lol!...might be worth more (MAYBE) but it certainly wasn't better was it. Despite the fact we have a few mediocre players...we still have the likes of Palombo, Cassano, Pazzini, Dessena and Campagnaro...so we aren't totally shit.

When in song, he is outstanding.... Pazzini has a lot to thank him for...

Inter's "weakened" team cpould have played much much better... if Mou had got his tactics right. Like Inter did well in the second half, once Rivas went out and we played 2 CBs....

Inter need to realise that you have to be AWAKE in first halfs!!!

Cassano should move on if Doria don't show ambition. Perhaps it would take Cassano demanding more from the owner for him to get his act straight. He would be a big miss allthough I haven't seen Doria much this season. How are you copping(sp?)?

He shouldn't go to Juve because Del Piero is simply not ready to give one the mantle and they should give Giovinco more of a chance in the next year or two so he can take over when he retires. None of the big 3 really need Cassano. Roma and a the return of the Totti-Cassano combo wouldn't be bad but doubt that will happen.
