UEFA Cup Round of 16 Empty UEFA Cup Round of 16

    Bremen - St-Etienne
    Marseille - Ajax
    Dynamo Kyiv - Metalist
    CSKA Moskva - Shakhtar
    Hamburg - Galatasaray
    PSG - Braga
    Udinese - Zenit
    Man. City - AaB

Went on to the Metalist website to check something, and came across their match report from one of their recent league games:

This match was the first in trilogy "Metalist” - "Dynamo"(Kyiv). As you know, the Kharkiv team was scheduled to meet the team from the capital of Ukraine: one time – in the Ukrainian Championship and twice in the UEFA Cup. And this was the 18th round of Ukrainian Championship.

First of all, when Ukrainian journalists saw the name of Vitaliy Godulian in the list of referees who were going to work on the match they knew exactly that this one wouldn`t be easy.

But they had no idea that the referee will be the main hero in this match.

From the beginning "Dynamo" and "Metalist" were equal: attacks, chances, fouls… Interesting that the fouls against the Kharkiv team were ignored by referee when the more or less similar situations made by Kyiv players were encouraged with free kicks and yellow cards to "Metalist"(!). On the 16th minute "Dynamo" got a corner. Mykhalyk touched a ball with a head, trying to score a header and Goriainov caught a ball on the goal line. But Godulian thought that there was a goal – 0:1. Gantsarczyk didn`t think that there was a scored goal too and tried to explain this to the referee. Godulian thanked Severyn for his try with a yellow card. The second yellow card in this half of the match was given to Obradovic, who only did the sliding tackle. That was, by the way, after the rude foul on Edmar which, of course, has left unseen by the referee.

On the 55th minute interesting thing had happened – Papa Gueye god a red (!) card for running beside the Kravets. By the way, only Godulian saw this "infraction", the assistant referee didn`t. Papa left the game while his team-mates tried to convince the referee that there was no reason to give sent Gueye off with the help of the assistant referee. But that was in vain – only 10 players have left in “Metalist”. Berezovchuk immediately came instead of Rykun – to at least somehow protect Goriainov, who has lost his tallest defender.

Strange, but after the foul against Valiaev Kadduri got a yellow card, may be it was just because of the serious injure he caused – Badr hitted Sergiy in a head. Few minutes later, Valiaev came back. Meanwhile, Walter Acevedo came to the field instead Bordian and a minute later, on the 70th minute, to be sure, Kravets found a weak link in the “Metalist"`s defence and scored a goal – 0:2.

After that the referee began to correct his mistakes but that was unnecessary – the game score was the same. "Dynamo" - "Metalist" 2:0

Well, we`ll wait to the next meeting with Kyiv club in the UEFA Cup with the less scandalous referee and then we`ll see what score really represents the football opposition between the First and the Second capitals of Ukraine.

How's that for a good, neutral report lol!

Wonder what Dynamo think of Vitaliy Godulian. Seems like a Ukrainian Rob Styles.
