He's an okay poacher, but hardly on their level. Doesn't score enough to justify being that much of a passenger.

He's scored 10 of their 35 league goals this season. Pretty important.

The rant was aimed at allowing them to affect the one match in the period they couldn't afford to lose, and as it turned out, drop points in. It worked as desired, just as the respect policy did in a crucial game last season, the fact it had no affect in the other games didn't matter.

If you've noticed, the Spurs fans don't like him. I support him back from when he played for Charlton - who I had a bit of a soft spot for at the time because I used to go and watch them quite a bit.

Spurs fans tend to prefer players that they can watch and then have a wank over on the way home

It's not the matter of him being "not pretty enough". Yes he may score the goals, but he ruins more attacks. It's a team game, he can't hold up the ball and WHEN he gets hold of the ball it takes an eternity for him to release it and release it well.

I don't hate the player and he has scored some vital goals, but he has made us play with less creativity and fucked up alot of our play in the final third. Atleast with Inzhagi he has great awkward movement to complement the midfield, Bent does not...

Pavlyuchenko has only scored 4 goals in the league. 3 of those goals + another assist have also resulted in 12 points.

Defoe won us 4 points from his 4 games, that's a far better ratio than Bent

Gomes has actually only lost us 2 points this season (Villa at home, Fulham away). I would add on Arsenal away, but that's cancelled out by Almunia messing up in the same game.

I don't quite understand what the writer of the article is trying to argue with regard to diving. If he's arguing that diving should be punished more severely in general (with red cards, I presume, rather than with £50 million fines) - well, the same sort of case could be made against other sorts of cheating on the football pitch - a player who cynically trips a forward on a breakaway will, presuming he isn't the last man, receive a yellow card at most as punishment, yet his foul may well have prevented a goal.

I'm not sure how radical a switch to a sort of 4-2-3-1 formation would be for Arsenal. They played a 4-5-1 formation a lot last season and they've played it occasionally this season - they'd just be putting a bit more emphasis on the two wider attacking players, who, in their current 4-4-2 or 4-5-1, tend to be quite attacking anyway.
