Put a tenner on Chelski. Hiddink better deliver.

Come on red men!!!
Joe Cole even admitted the Anfield atmosphere is too much for the Chelsea players. We need to come out with a clean sheet and a win and we can go through IMO!

Is this the end of the board? I know we're all a bit sick of this fixture but still no banter/discussion of this, er, titanic clash with hours to go? Or has I missed the other obvious thread?
Oh and if you bellends don't want Agger, can we have him?

we've played Chelsea 4 or 5 times a season for the last 5 years! It's all been said!
I don't know enough about Hiddink to comment too much on how Chelsea will line up, I think the Liverpool team is fairly straightforward providing Aurelio is fit. Mascherano is suspended so presumably we'll see the same setup as Fulham with the exception of the left flank which may see Aurelio and Riera or Benyanoon come in.
It would be sensible for Essien to detail Gerrard and force Liverpool to play through the flanks. The game will probably be decided by a set piece and I'd be surprised if there's more than 1 goal. 1-0 Liverpool would be par, any more and Liverpool would be favourites, anything less and it's Chelsea's to lose at home.

And it's practically a coin flip on every possible issue you can seperate them on so no one's arrogant enough to boast about anything.
Hopefully one team on the pitch takes the iniative and makes it interesting, don't need another set of 1-0 home wins a piece.

Liverpool and Chelsea will face each other for the ninth time in Europe and in the fifth consecutive season in the Champions League. After these two quarter-final legs have been played, only Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will have faced each other more often in the CL (12 times).
Liverpool were victorious in both the 2004-05 and 2006-07 semi-finals. Luis Garcia scored the only goal in the clashes four seasons ago; Joe Cole ( Chelsea ) and Daniel Agger ( Liverpool ) netted in the respective home legs two years ago, when the Reds prevailed 4-1 in a penalty shoot-out.
Chelsea knocked Liverpool out of the CL in last year's semi-final. A goal from Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt and a 90th minute own goal John Arne Riise ensured the Anfield leg finished all square. The Blues then needed extra time in the second leg with the score at 1-1 after 90 minutes (Didier Drogba for Chelsea , Fernando Torres for Liverpool ). Frank Lampard (98 minutes) and Drogba (105) forged Chelsea into a 3-1 lead before a consolation from Ryan Babel.
Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have played in all of Liverpool's eight CL matches against Chelsea ; Petr Cech, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba have done likewise for Chelsea.
This will be their 23rd meeting in five seasons in all competitions and their third clash this term. Liverpool have already done the double in the Premier League (0-1 at Stamford Bridge and 2-0 at Anfield), but Chelsea lead 9-7 over the piece, with six draws.

Wasn't this the defensive semi-final that produced 7 goals last season? Or was that the attacking Man Utd-Barcelona one? Would seem more logical to be the latter.
Unfortunately for Pool, the tactical ineptness of Scolari is no longer present, but they are in much better form now than when they played us in the league. Both games will end up being draws imo, just hope it doesn't go to penalties.

Have a real feeling Rafa wants to win this tie tonight. We all know having to go away from home in the second leg needing a result is so so tricky. Especially from other Premier League teams.
We saw how good we can be at home against Madrid. That was the second leg but if the players start with the same attitude and determination and come out with a 2-0 win for instance then the second leg will play right into our hands.
If Chelsea win tonight at Anfield then we are as good as out IMO. Away goals are so vital now in the CL. We saw what happened last year when the late Riise own goal changed everything. We couldn't set up for a stalemate which we've done in previous years and therefor the game wasn't tactical but instead quite open and impossible to predict at times.
A clean sheet is the main priority tonight. A win with a clean sheet would be fantastic.

Let's hope that the big game players like Drogba, Lampard, Torres, Alonso turn up tonight too. Too often in the past it's been the so-called less important players like Kuyt, Malouda & Kalou who've been the better performers.

True. Bad news for Chelsea is that Torres had so many chances against Fulham and didn't find the back of the net. usually when he's due a goal he delivers. He has a decent record against Chelsea anyway doesn't he? 4 goals in 4 games or something?

Shame that Torres is yet to score a goal by beating Terry one way or another.
Drogba on the other hand, has destroyed all of your centre backs.
