De Ja Vu Liverpool vs Chelsea Discussion _41481428_chelsea_liverpool_203

So it's starting to feel like 2005 again, in 2 weeks time Liverpool will play Chelsea for the 12th time in 3 seasons under Benitez, Yes Mourinho Vs Benitez starts once more, both have already had sly digs at each other:

Mourinho: 'For me Liverpool will start alightly ahead because we know Liverpool are only involved in the champions league and Chelsea are involved in all competitions'

Benitez: 'Chelsea have good players and we know in the last 4 years they have spent a lot of money on the world's best players'

Should Liverpool get through that they could make it even more De Ja Vu with a match against Milan, how the Italians would love to meet Liverpool again.

Alternatively Liverpool could meet that other side left in the competition....Man United.

IMO Chelsea will be favorites and I think it's going to be Liverpool's toughest game of the season, even tougher than Barca.

The final is going to be immense what ever the outcome and I just can't wait for these semi final's now.

Let's get some early predictions in then, I don't want to predict I'm afraid I'll jinx it!

Quietly confident, we'll make the final.

    2-1 at home, 1-1 away.

2-1 Chelsea at the Bridge. 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Another 3-2 aggregate for the Chels, who are making their 3rd semi-final appearance in the last 4 seasons, but are yet to get beyond the semis.

Whats the fixtures for both games? As in home & away...

I think that Chelsea V Pool will be a close game, just like last time it will be decided by a single incident, not much between the two sides, Pool seem to come to life in the CL.

Milan Vs MU can go either way, last time the teams met it was virtually the same two teams, bar Crespo. And Milan won, but MU's fast attack against Milan defence...

    My predictions:

-Robben to dive as some point, possibly more than once
-Gerrard to hit a 70 yard pass into the stands at some point, again possibly more than once
-Riise to hit the bar/post at some point
-Mourinho to pump his fists at some point
-Benitez to look miserable at all points

Slightly. But our League form is very concerning for me at the moment, so I am thinking about that more often TBH. If everything was fine there then it would be more frustrating watching the Champions League with us out.

We didn't take our chances against PSV so we deserve to be out. But it is very hard to take watching other English sides win well in Europe when I know that we have the potential to do that as well.

    Always next year..... (Hopefully) <Ale>

    Man Utd vs. Roma
    Valencia vs. Chelsea
    Bayern vs. AC Milan

For me this shows that away advantage means little at this stage.

ok I've said this all along.

We nearly messed up against Porto, despite having the 'home advantage' and then we were able to go and win at Valencia.

To be honest, Liverpool won their tie in the away leg too.

The first game at Old Trafford will end; 1:1

Inzaghi will score .. and Giggs will equalise

    Second Leg

Inzaghi will put Milan 2:0 up on the day with two quickfire goals ..

Carrick will equalise with a header from a corner

Rooney will then score and make it 2:2 (3:3 on agg)

and finally Rooney goes through one on one with Dida, Dida then brings down Rooney .. penalty ! no the ref allows Manchester United to continue the advantage with Saha scoring making it 3:2 to Manchester United on the night ...

the commentator will then scream ' full speed ahead Athens'

Manchester United win 4:3 on agg.

surely the equivalent of Conte would score in the first leg, ie Gattuso i think!

FIFM makes a good point, i cant remember the last time Milan lost when they played the 2nd leg at the San Siro.

Luis - I'd be inclined to agree, I certainly don't see us as favourites.

Chelsea's injury situation will help but we are still lacking Garcia and he can be crucial for us in breaking teams down. Most importantly though, Chelsea (unlike Barca) will be happy to play cold war football, which won't suit us.

Crouch and Kuyt (assuming Bellers is still injured) will need to be more than usually clinical as we won't get many chances.
