I think Alves is a liability, and I voiced it over the season. Abidal is quite underrated defensively. Offensively, Alves is better, but as we witnessed tonight, he could be wasteful.

Wrong.

Puyol filled in at LB only when Abidal was injured or recovering from injury, and maybe the odd game here or there for tactical reasons.

If everybody stayed fit through the season, the defense would be Alves-Marquez-Puyol-Abidal. Pique got his chance through injuries, and perhaps next year will be a starter (I hope so because I can't stand Marquez).

But I perhaps see what you're trying to say, in that if everyone was fit, Pep would have had a tough decision on whether to play Abidal or Puyol at LB, since Pique's performances in recent games have been superb.

But that was because of his potential yellow card, and one bad performance in the previous game.

Not really. Your example was flawed. @ Kas i know why he was on the bench. I just don't know why Bobo used that game as an example since Pique started...and Puyol may well have started at LB if it wasn't for the yellow which was my point in the first place.

Went to Istanbul, like Kas' problem, couldn't get to the final in Athens in 07 cause of uni/work. Good thing in the end I guess.

Nope. The dates clashed with my dissertation and final exams.

My dad and brother went to Madrid, Turin and Paris that year so I really missed out.
