Time for Wenger to retire? Empty Time for Wenger to retire?

Post by Batman ' Sat Apr 18, 2009 7:12 pm

As Arsenal finish yet another season trophless, and set to finish at least 15 points behind Champions Manchester United, is it finally time for Arsene Wenger to admit defeat and retire? He will never be as good as Alex Fergusson and he knows it.

Arsenal have not won a trophy since 2005, they have not won the league since 2004.

In the meantime Sir Alex Fergusson has won 2 League titles and is about to win another, 2 league cups, 2 community shields and is about to be the first manager to win the Champions League back-to-back and the quintuple.

    Wenger just isn't as good.

    What do you think?

No. They can make the champions league final still which is a great achievement but they will lose in that to Chelsea.

They can't win the Champions League.

They are playing against Manchester United, SAF is a better manager.

    The league table doesn't lie.

    Arsenal's season is over.

This coming from the guy who said that West Ham would lose to AV on account that they didn't have anything to play for. Piss off mate.

Batman thinks if Arsenal don't get rid of Wenger now their decline could be unstoppable.

Next season Manchester City, Spurs, Aston Villa and Everton will be stronger.

Arsenal will sell their best players and fall short, but the fans will say it's ok to have 1 season out of Europe because they are rebuilding.

They will lose more players and the fans will say it's ok to be relegated because the squad is young and will improve in the Championship.

Before long they will be dropping out of league football and the fans will say it's ok because we play some nice little traingles.

Batman thinks if Arsenal don't want this to happen they must get rid of Wenger.

I just knew the voyeur would make a comment about the state of the pitch. Yeah it should be in a better condition than it was, but anyone would think his players had grown up playing on state of the art pitches.

Does anyone know if the national retire age (forced retirement, you know what I mean?) counts for managers as well?

Ferguson is 67, Wenger is 59 or 60 I think so he has some catching up to do but they're both capable of seeming quite senile.

He made a few actually. He has a point, but it is the same for both teams and it will be interesting to see if today's loser has a pop at it as well. He seemed a bit lacking in grace about a few things yesterday. Hiddink emphatically confirmed again that he is definitely leaving at the end of the season.

Wenger needs a director of football. Someone like Redknapp would walk in the door, make 3 or 4 signings and suddenly that team would be unbeatable. Sign a proper keeper. If and when Szczesny comes good the likes of Fabregas, Wilshire, RVP etc will be long gone.

It baffles me, why didn't he strengthen in January when he knew that Fabianski and Vermaelen were injured, and that Denilson, Rosicky and Diaby were pants?

Im all for sacking Wenger..but who else should take his job?

Let's wait for the EPL to end, fancy Arsenal over utd this season to win the league. If that happens I cant see a reason to sack Wenger. But they need some silverware pretty soon.
