Milan's next coach Empty Milan''s next coach

Post by Forza Italia~Forza Milan! Fri May 22, 2009 3:20 pm

It looks like Leonardo has emerged as the front-runner for the Milan job. I must say this is a very odd choice. The following are coaches who have been mooted for the position.

    Leonardo

Pros: He is a Milan man who has extensive experience scouting in Brazil and even beyond.

Cons: No coaching experience and may turn out to be as complaisant as Ancelotti.

    Marco Van Basten

Pros: A former Milan player. Has coached attacking, attractive teams.

Cons: His teams appear to be naive. He also doesn't seem to know what formation is best. He would definitely take time to settle at Milan.

    Allegri

Pros: Has led Cagliari to great heights.

Cons: Has only coached a small team, and success at small teams doesn't always carry over to bigger clubs.

    Luciano Spaletti

Pros: Has done well with an attacking, attractive Roma.

Cons: Seems to lose the plot when the going gets tough (7-1, mid-season collapse).

    ---

With the choices being considered, is it better if Ancelotti stays?

Or what is Tassotti up to these days? Is he still an assistant? I just can't imagine giving the team to someone with no managerial experience. Even Guardiola had at least managed the B team.

    Milan ponder triad solution
    Friday 22 May, 2009
It has been suggested that Milan may appoint a three-man coaching team should Carlo Ancelotti leave for Chelsea.

There have been incessant reports linking Carletto with the Stamford Bridge hot seat after a frustrating season at San Siro.

Despite Vice-President Adriano Galliani's assurances that Ancelotti is staying put, the Press continue to line up successors.

The latest candidates are three men who already work for Milan in a backroom capacity.

Scout and director Leonardo and Ancelotti's assistants Mauro Tassotti and Filippo Galli could take over the reins in a joint effort.

Leonardo would be the main man, but he doesn't yet have the necessary coaching badges, whereas Tassotti and Galli do.

The other candidates for the job include former Holland boss and Milan striking star Marco Van Basten and Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti.

Rijkaard kind of fell out of consideration. He would be a great coach, for sure. I agree with your point. To give a job to an inexperienced coach is unwise.

It's weird, Rijkaard just stopped being a candidate one day. He would be the best solution IMO.

Another name being thrown about is Scolari. Notwithstanding his shortcomings of late, would he be a good candidate given the large Brazilian contingent at Milan?

Very odd indeed. When he left Farça all the rumours were that he would take a year off and then go to Milan. I agree, he would be a great fit - experienced with a big club, has had domestic and european success, knows the club, the language, etc. Doesn't make any sense that he wouldn't eve be in the discussion.

Milan's best option is to give someone like Rijkaard/Van Basten/Donadoni/Tassotti a chance, if they succeed then great. If they fail in the first year, remove them and get Capello back!

I don't think Spalletti is a good fit for Milan, for Juve yes. Prandelli will be a good fit for Milan (I would hate that, as I really like Prandelli) but he is committed to Fiorentina.

    Our management is seriously retarded.

They want to replace a proven world-class tactician with unproven and/or shit managers. If we would have someone of the caliber of Lippi, Capello, Prandelli etc replacing Ancelotti then yes.

But it seems as if the management is on a mission to find the person less qualified to do the job.

And in that case Leonardo wins hands down, he's not even a coach FFS.

    lol!

That's a certainty and that's what makes him the frontrunner for the job. Any top-level manager would actually demand a few quality players and as we've all seen the people in charge don't want to spend a dime and therefore they want to employ one from the 'family'.

If i was Milan i would hire Rijkaard.

Van Basten has issues with players who talk back. See van Nistelrooy, Van Bommel, Seedorf. And with Ajax he had always trouble with his system.

Rijkaard is better. Or one of the topcoaches in Italie already named. Allegri, Spalletti,

    CLOSING THE ACCOUNT
    5/23/2009 4:00:00 PM
“A very beautiful career of Paolo Maldini, crowned by many victories! For me the things are very clear with the club, I remain at 100%. Against Roma we will need to be balanced. THE DECLARATIONS OF CARLO ANCELOTTI.

MILAN – These are the declarations of Carlo Ancelotti during the press conference on the eve of Milan-Roma at San Siro on Sunday:

First topic is that of Paolo Maldini and his last match at San Siro tomorrow against Roma: “The fans will have to get used to football without Paolo Maldini. I think that Paolo's career represents a landmark for all of those who want to be footballers and all of those who believe in the loyalty, seriousness and professionalism of those who go on the pitch. Paolo had a very beautiful career, crowned by great victories and great seriousness. I don’t distinguish the Maldini-man from the Maldini-footballer, for me he's the same on and off the pitch. I had a great rapport with him, very nice and close. I think that in these eight years of stay at Milan, that I had a lot of help from Maldini. Tied to what he does normally every day. There wasn't a particular day where he came late, he always dedicated himself with great intensity, seriousness and consistency.

“It doesn’t make sense to make comparisons with Baresi, it’s nor fair to say that Paolo is an important loss, he did what he had to do in football, leaving an important trace which players like Nesta, Ambrosini and Pirlo will have to follow with facts.”

On Roma: “It’s been three years that Milan don’t defeat Roma at home, the Giallorossi have been competitive but they had big problems tied in certain ways to ours: many injuries which were not able to give continuity to their season. The Champions League target slipped away from us last week and I think that tomorrow we must not let it slip away again, in order to close the account. Tomorrow we shall try to put on the pitch all of our energy.

“Roma is giving the impression that it’s finding it difficult to end this season. Roma are after the sixth place, the last energies will be used tomorrow, but Milan is fine and are in a good form. We’re a bit tired, as chasing the Champions League tired us out, but there are still 10 days and it’s evident that we must pull out the last energies. At Udine there was an attitude which surprised us, especially the veolocity of Udinese. We’re in a good moment now. The atmosphere of uncertainty on the future and the participation to the Champions League is a very big objective for the players, who have suffered a lot not participating this year. The priority is this and represents a great motivation for everyone. Roma have dynamism and we will need balance to avoid the counter attack actions or simply the quick Roma moves. Tomorrow night Ronaldinho will not start from the first minute.”

On the future: "For me the things are very clear with the club and we shall continue to have them very clear. At the end when the accounts will be closed, we shall find the right solution. I'm the last one to indicate my substitute. The optimal solution for me is that of closing this season well because things must be done one by one.

"There are no contacts with Berlusconi, I don’t think that it annoyed him my contact with Abramovich. At the moment, I have no open situation with Chelsea, and at the end of the season if there will be the need to find a solution, we shall find it. Today the contract I have is valid. I'm ready for everything. I enjoy coaching, it’s a passion, not a work, it’s clear that I will say yes if they ask me if I want to coach Chelsea. Money is important, but not for me. I never asked a ‘thousand lira’ increase to Milan, the economic matter does not interest me when you’re fine in an environment, evemn though I think one must be evaluated for his qualities.

“Until June 30 2010, I’m the Milan coach. I know how the things are, I don’t see any fog, I see everything very clear. If I had to express myself in percentages, I would say that I would remain at Milan at 100% also next year. There was a very good feeling with the team, after eight years we’re still here talking, especially with the club, if it wasn’t so a coach would not last in Italy for that much. I repeat, I’m very calm, my preoccupations are others. I study English for the past two years because it helps me when I go on holiday abroad.”

The other topics: “Nesta has been very fine for the past two weeks, as he's been working every day with the team and he's well focused. The other injured players are recovery very well. With regards to David Beckham, I don't know exactly what agreements he made with the club. Differently from Maldini, he could return.

“It will be a nice final between Manchester and Barcelona. Repeating oneself in Europe is difficult, there's no team who won twice in a row. I think that Manchester have more chances than Barcelona. I will not go watch the final because I have another commitment…I’m going to watch a movie…(he laughs).”

    Ancelotti has officially quit:

    OFFICIAL: ANCELOTTI QUITS MILAN
    Sunday 31 May, 2009
Carlo Ancelotti has announced he is leaving Milan this summer "by mutual consent,” but refused to confirm a deal with Chelsea.

“In agreement with the club we have decided to terminate the contract a year early,” he said after the 2-0 victory at Fiorentina secured automatic entry into the Champions League.

“My wonderful experience with this side ends today. I thank all the players, directors, fans and everyone involved.

“I think it ends in the right way and is probably the right choice for both of us. The respect and affection remains with all the people who over the years participated in this adventure.”

The split has been on the cards for some time, but Ancelotti continued to insist he had not lied when he said he was “100 per cent” sure of staying.

“We spoke about it after the game with [Vice-President Adriano] Galliani and [President Silvio] Berlusconi. We decided together to make this decision without problems. We part in sync and with no disagreements.”

He is expected to join Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, especially after writing in his book about a meeting with Roman Abramovich.

“I cannot officialise my future because I do not have an agreement with any other club.”

President Berlusconi did not always support his Coach in public, but again Ancelotti refused to criticise the patron.

“I have great respect and love for President Berlusconi. We've had a few disagreements over the years, but this is the day to thank him for eight wonderful years of my career.

“He let me spend nearly a decade at the helm of a great club that was at the top of world football, so my gratitude goes beyond the odd phone call.

“The decisions were made at the end of this season. It was a complicated campaign and we left it two months ago with the agreement we'd make the decision after the final game. That's what we did.

“I hope you'll know what my future is soon. London is not necessarily the guaranteed next stop.”

The family atmosphere that sacks the best manager in the world and continually undermines all the great things he's achieved this season with no help whatsoever from above?

Ancelotti is a great manager, a great person, good psychologist, works his players well, great man-management skills, and the best tactician in football at the moment in my opinion. His autobiography and work at Milan only reinforces these traits.

It's utter lunacy why he's replaced by the club's SCOUT and a part-time shit TV pundit.

The 'club' is fucking all it stands for, and turning into another one of that odious political cretin's fuck-ups. Berlusconi is a disgusting human, a disgusting politican and has now turned into a neglectful disgusting owner by appointing that fat fuck to do his slimy work.
